the fifth floor is crazy noisy because of the bar, but lower floors are awesome. if you're going out all night to clubs anyway, don't worry about it. weekdays are great for meeting folks who are a little less party-focused, and maybe a few years older than the 18-23 yr old clubbing types.

In a great position just behind the Cathedral on the Zocalo, so easily accesible by metro. The staff were really helpful and it had a good atmosphere with live music on the ground floor and a cool roof terrace bar overlooking the square. Will definitely be coming back.

Location couldn't be better, right behind the cathedral. Dorms are nice, only downfall is the wobbly bunkbeds. Bathrooms are good and clean. Good menu in the cafe downstairs, but free breakfast and dinner anyway which are both decent. The rooftop bar is noisy so maybe not a place to stay if you...

This hostel has a restaurant on the ground floor; they have live "music" there which is loud and annoying. I would recommend this hostel only to frat-type college students.

It's directly next to the Metropolitan Cathedral and the view from the terrace bar at night is amazing. As far as character, cleanliness, and overall feel are concerned, this is one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in. It's very secure and they also provide several tour packages (which I never used but they definitely looked helpful to those who might be feeling a little overwhelmed with the endlessly-faceted city). The only drawbacks: The front desk is pretty slow; the key cards for the rooms stop working at least once a day, which is great for security but a major pain when there is a long line in front of the main desk (which is most of the time). Also, it is fairly loud at night, since the terrace bar stays open until 2 am, but that's to be expected at pretty much any large hostel and can easily be kept at bay with the assistance of a good pair of ear plugs. Overall, this is a great place to stay and I would certainly recommend it highly to anyone wanting to stay in the Centro Historico.close

Many mexicans have lunch there and it adds up to the comprehension of a country to be able to meet and speek with his inhabitants at the occasion of a meal, or in the evening at the bar. Nightime, in between 12 and 6 pm, it is sometimes very noisy and makes it difficult to sleep: it is the only bad point I really sea to thir hostel.close

It is a few miles to walk from the hostel, past the alameda central, down la reforma, and to Chapultepec Park. The Zocalo metro stop is not super major and there are no transfers to other trains there, so you might have to go out of your way to get to the train you want to take. Trains arrive frequently, so this shouldn't take too long. Overall, I would rather stay at a hostel more centrally located, maybe somewhere along La Reforma. Noise - The design of the hostel reminds me of an embassy suites hotel. There is a central atrium (with a bar/restaurant on the ground floor) and the rooms, for the most part, look onto the atrium. The atrium gets loud, especially on weekends when there is a band playing. It starts to quiet down by around 10pm. Safety - The hostel seems very secure and there are security guards in the lobby. To get to the dorms, you use a key card. The cards frequently don't work and you have to have the person at the front desk reactivate them. I'm not sure how safe the zocalo is at night. A few blocks away the neighborhood deteriorates rapidly (taking a taxi from the airport at 11pm, I saw dozens of prostitutes lining the streets). Other areas of Mexico City might be safer. Rooms - very clean. The 4 bedroom dorm had its own sink, and separate rooms for the toilet and shower, which was nice. Very impressive for a hostel.close

Internet was slow and only half the machines worked, much better place around the corner However, the loction is lovely with great views of the city and cathedral.
