It would take a while to find all these treasures, and certainly can't be done be just walking around to sight see. It's fun to check out and convenient as base for visting other places, but I don't think I'd go back.close

Merida has a strong cultural presence so it is a great trip to just see how people live and get along. The trips through the mercados were enlightening and the daily dances and fairs were highly enjoyable!close

The city's sidewalks are very small and it was very unpleasant to walk around the city with all the exhaust fumes from the many cars. Although I saw a city bus I never saw a bus stop so we walked everywhere. By 2 in the afternoon it becomes unbearibly hot and humid. I've never been so sweaty in my life!! There is an outdoor shopping area downtown but they sell alot of junk. Save your money for gifts near the ruins. It is a good city since hostels are cheap and it's only a short bus ride to somewhere exciting. ei. ruins, cenotes, beaches, lagoons. It also has a good mayan museum, which can tell you more than one of guides at the ruins and is cheap!close

There is nothing similar to a club or a discotech that I was able to find... Seems like if you want to go out and meet people or drink, it's gonna be a cafe. Seems like if you want to go out and meet people or drink, it's gonna be a cafe. There is something to do almost every night and it is fun... you definately see the other tourists show up, but there are a lot of things for locals too. The food is excellent, but you should check prices... the same food and drink can be 2x the price as the restaurant next door with no difference in portion or size. Or, the price may seem reasonable and then the portion is small, but this type of thing is rare and overall it's a clean Mexican city with great sights, cultural mix and food...close

Great hostel for backpackers. It has everything you could need: kitchen, water, clothesline, handwashing, etc. Also great tour services. It isn't fancy, just bunkbeds and sheets. But if you are looking for a genuine Mexican experience, it's a great, affordable option.

Very quiet, peaceful, and secure. Just not much "going on," at least when I was there. For anyone seeking a clean bed and bathroom facilities it is fine. A 15 minute walk to the main plaza of Merida.

Thank you so much for everything. The room, staff and breakfast were really great. I felt like I was taken care of way beyond what I expected. I will definately be coming back to this place.

If you get to the ADO bus station you'd better get a cab up to the hostel: it's around 30 mins walking! Some staff members cannot speak English. I booked for a double room and they gave me .FOR THE SAME PRICE!!!- a 7 bed dorm, saying that what was written on their daily paper was more important...

Good location and staff made me feel very welcome. However the toilets are horrible, they stink and there is only a curtain for a door. There wasn't any hot water either. Wifi is not free!

Dining area is disorganized and not conducve to folks talking to other travelers. Small tables spread around would help. Cleaning staff sometimes skip your private room. Bathrooms very clean. New fans help with the heat of Merida. This is a very nice place.
