As a region it was developed as one of the first package holiday destinations on the canaries & continues as one of Spain's busiest destinations for this "2 weeks in the sun" style holidays. The area caters for all budgets ranging from the luxury 4 & 5 star hotels in Costa Melonares to the cheap & cheerful apartments in Playa del Ingles. In entertainment the same can be said with fine dining restaurants available as well as all you can eat buffets & even a McDonalds on the beach front in Playa del Ingles. The area boasts year round sunshine but having been here on separate occasions in July, September (twice) & November I can safely say the temperatures are a little less in the winter then summer. What the area is best suitable for is for a lazy sun holiday for all ages or if you’re in your teens & twenties a party holiday- it doesn't really boast too much Spanish culture & most of the local attractions are based around the sun, sea & sand. If that’s what you are after though you will find it hard to beat Maspalomas.close

This is a lovely Indonesian style restaurant offering a wide range of traditional Indonesian & Balinese dishes. Its located directly opposite to the Casino & Gran Hotel right at the taxi rank so it’s easy enough to find even though it is in a mainly shopping area. We went for the house special which comprises of 17 dishes between two people. This might...

Sand Dunes & Beach80%
The sand dunes at Maspalomas are a protected nature reserve & great for a walk- you can walk all the way to Play Del Ingles beach through the dunes (beware though to see a few exhibitionists on the Dunes as it is an official naturists’ zone). The beach as a whole is a really good size with lots of sun-loungers & umbrellas (although as typical in Spain these...
