bit expensive, some nice cafes / resturants. port area is good but alot of the outskirts of city could be 'dodgy'. had no problems on our trip though. |

Marseille was pretty awesome. We went to the beach the first day and had some awesome sun-bathing weather. To finish off our afternoon we took a bus (21) to the Calanques and walked around on the fabulous cliffs until we came to a beautiful mediteranean vista. Breathtaking!
The following day we took a boat from Vieux Port to the Chateau d'If and had a great romp on the island.
All in all, Marseille is a hoppin' little town for a quick getaway. |

Vertigo is an incredible hostel/cheap hotel. Great location - really close to the station and walking distance form the Old Port. Staff are incredibly friendly, great beds, and great place to meet (and drink with) other travels. Awesome place! |

Marseille can definitely be done in a day or two...don\'t waste your time staying for more than that and go to the French Riviera instead!! |

Marseille was pretty seedy, but there was a kind of raw beauty about the industrial fishing boats and working class atmosphere. |

Didnt really like Marseille itself, it reminded me of Morocco and I didnt fdeel entirely safe the whole time I was there.
Cassis only a 25 minute bus ride away has to be the highlight of the trip!!!
