   We visited the Palacio Real on a lovely May Sunny day. It really is worth a visit, you can do a guided or unguided tour, my advice is to go for the unguided one as you can wander arround at your own pace. I thinkit is €9 in. It really is worth a visit, you can do a guided or unguided tour, my advice is to go for the unguided one as you can wander arround at your own pace. I thinkit is €9 in. There are fantastic palace gardens hidden away - head through the northwest exit of the Jardines de Satbatini and walk for 10 minutes down a steep hill, the most wonderful gardens are on your left - definately worth a visit. The Palcio also has a nice coffee shop and the usual touristy shop. The Palacio Real de Madrid (Royal Palace of Madrid), also called Palacio de Oriente (Palace of Orient) is the official residence of the King of Spain, located in Madrid. King Juan Carlos and the royal family do not actually reside in this palace, instead choosing the smaller Palacio de la Zarzuela, on the outskirts of Madrid. However, the Palacio Real de Madrid is still used for state occasions.close

    This Sunday morning market is well worth a visit - lots of bric a brac and jumble but some real finds here aswell - arty clothes and jewellery. Watch your bag in the market. We were advised to do so. There is a great atmosphere at the market.
