El personal de recepcion debe entender las reglas basicas de atencion al cliente. El hotel vende servicio no solo una habitacion. Las empleadas no tienen ni cordialidad y en algunos casos ni siquiera educacion.

It took me a while to realize how to activate the lights etc. with my card. A sign might help those of us who haven't seen this method before. Thanks Judy

i wouldn't call this a hostel it was more of a hotel and a very nice one. they clean the rooms every day. my room was a good size and really quiet. I felt very safe and the location is good too. would go there again.

Our room was wonderful, lovely flat screen tv, brand new bathroom with an amazing shower. We even had a deck to sit out on in the evening for a cold beer. Couldn't have asked for more, the location was amazing, just down the road from puerto del sol. Couldn't recommend this place more, but please make sure you request a room on the fourth floor as I think this is the only one renovated.close

Rooms 501-509 were directly next to the reception. That gave some noise (door bell, telephone, etc.). Bring ear plugs and also these rooms are fine for the money you pay. You are right in the middle of all the things you want to see in Madrid!

Great location within walking distance of all the main attractions, bars, cafes, restaurants, shops etc. Basic but comfortable and clean room with en-suite shower room. Nothing to speak of in way of any other facilities but all you'll want to do is sleep in the room - city centre Madrid is on the...

The problem with this hostal is that it's tucked away on the 5th floor of a busy street so has no atmosphere (free Internet though). Much better options exist for the same price: I used Hostal Carlos, calle Leon (in middle of Santa Ana nightlife) and Hotel Monaco (in Chueca, calle Barbieri, full of character). Astoria wasn't very friendly and totally lacked character.close

It was a wonderful place to stay... but I am not sure why it is called a hostal. You don't share a room, and you have your own bathroom. You even have a TV! It was very inexpensive considering what you got, and it was about 2 blocks from the Art walk (Museo Thymanns, Reina Sofia, El Prado) and...

Great location. Practically a hotel with nice room and bathroom. Just one floor, but a 3 or 4 minute walk from Puerta del Sol and 5 minutes from the Prado.

seemed to be some confusion over our deposit paid and adding 7% tax which seemed a bit unofficial with a pen and paper result at the end. More like a hotel than a hostel so got a good night sleep and free internet great.
