Just thought I'd mention that the UHT milk was off. Had a good stay though!

Actually I don't know how the hotel looks inside, because when I've arrived , there was no room for me, although I had confirmed the hour of arrival in the morning. The staff haven't taken us in.

The room was clean and quiet (ok almost, but for the 3 kids in the adjoining room :) ) the bar below didnt really disturb us , as we had dreaded, the staff was helpful and nice. Overall a good stay for non-fussy travellers!!close

It was filthy and we only saw the staff the day we arrived. Actually, this is a pub that has some rooms upstairs.

However, when we arrived we were put on a cab and send to a different pub, the Wishing Well In, near Peckham Rye because the Hourglass was full. The staff gave us the feeling of being a nuisance and wasn't sorry at all that they could not provide the room we had booked. The reason: They are always overbooked and send people away. The owner gave the cab driver the fare and said "Here, 6GBP like always". On our way the cab driver told us that we were quite lucky as we were only driven to Peckham. He regularly drives people from to Hourglass to other places, most of them far out. We asked the owner of the Wishing Well In and he confirmed that he regularly gets people from the Hourglass. That night also a second couple arrived with us. The owner of the Wishing Well In was nice, which can, however, not compensate for a molded showerhead, old bad double beds made from two beds of different height, VERY loud karaoke in the pub right below, burning holes in linen, cover and sheets and a totally dusty carpet which has not been cleaned in a loooooong time (which was a problem as there wasn't any chair to put your cloths, not even a nail in the wall...). Having had a nice stay in the Cambridge Youth Hostel before, this was quite a blow. STAY AWAY FROM THE HOURGLASS HOTEL IN LONDON! You just don't know where you will end up spending your night.close

It's above a very smoke-filled bar with some of the smoke drifting upstairs to the rooms. Although the hallways and other areas of the hotel were heated, my room was particulary cold and there wasn't much in the way of bedding. I decided not to spend two nights with them, and after first being told I would be charged for the second night, the manager was called, who then graciously allowed me out of the second night. I think you'd have a better time in Bayswater.close
