The Avalon Hotel is situated on a quiet, elegant Georgian crescent in Bloomsbury. Built in 1807, the hotel building is located centrally on the crescent of Cartwright Gardens and overlooks the gardens in which there are tennis courts available for use by guests. It would have been nice with a cupboard that was not rickety on the verge of falling apart; and they need to unblock drains both in room sink and in shower. Shower room needs lock (please!) and it would be nice to have warm water at more than a trickle.

It should be posted on the site that reception closes early and you shouldn't check in late at night- we definitely had to knock/ring the bell a few times to wake someone up at around 12:30 am and felt really bad!

We changed a room at last minute, to accomodate 3 instead of 2 people. The room size was great, but it was very much in need of a thorough cleaning, dusting, painting, and we had to leave due to allergies. The staff was very nice and tried very hard.

Nice English brex....would have preferred a room upstairs rather than in the basement...its location on a quiet crescent is awesome
