The hostel is a living relic of Poland's communist past--it seems like it wouldn't take much to update it, but nobody can seem to be bothered. I wouldn't have minded the mildew, the threadbare linens, or the surly staff, but when the night porter didn't want to let us in at 1 am on Saturday night--despite repeatedly telling him in Polish and English that we were staying at the hostel--I decided I wouldn't be going back there.close

Hostel has a slightly confusing bathroom system where you have the key to one of 3 WCs & showers in your room. This would be OK except they let out rooms with keys for the same bathroom, so they didn't have to clean the others. So even though our floor was half-empty everyone was in adjacent rooms and sharing one bathroom. Its also a pretty long walk from the train station, so you may want to get a taxi.close

Don't bother asking staff for help if you can't speak Polish

Great cosy rooms in the larger dorms... no bunk beds and having a dining table, couch and radio were nice. Close to the few sights Lodz has to offer, but difficult to get to and from the airport on public transport.

The hostel was well situated. I went in winter so it did feel a bit isolated and desolate and no real hostel buzz, as it wasnt eak season. The staff were friendly and helpful.

the hostel lacked any atmosphere, and needing a key to go into the kitchen/bathroom/showre got annoying. great rooms, very clean.
