After almost 3 months backpacking, this one stands out as one of the bigger disappointments. Private room was cramped and hot. (Private) bathroom hadn't been cleaned from the last guests which was pretty gross. Nice communal spaces... ordinary breakfast.

There is NO free WIFI but it is listed out on the hostelworld website!! That's Cheating! And the charge for internet access is very high!!! Don't choose it if you want to get Free WIFI!

Internet too expensive and no room wi-fi. Too expensive for what you get. Kitchen too small with tiny fridge. Breakfast meat smelt off and made me a bit sick.

Next morning, and the promised taxi didn't arrive. A different, more helpful, receptionist searched & found no record of our request. He was able to get another taxi for us & we made our flight but it was very unsatisfactory.close

Loved the cell we had. Good price, really great breakfast with meat and cheese, cool room including bars on the door, good atmosphere in general. Well worth a visit even if just for one night to say you stayed in a cell.

Nice place to stay in Ljubljana. 10min from the city center but in the heart of Ljubljana's alternative nightlife. It's also a good place to go for a coffee.

Whilst most members of staff were really nice and helpful, there were a few members who really weren't that helpful...but overall they did ruin the experience. This hostel is a great place to stay especially if you're after some local colour and nightlife - all of which was round the corner!

Cool concept of converting an old prison into a hostel!! Only problem I ran into was the first night I checked it. Apparently the lady working the day I called mistakenly booked my reservation one day later than scheduled. But I was helped to another hostel that night. Great new hostel, very clean and in a good location. The ´free´internet however is 15 mins and has to be used within 7 hours upon arrival - not so practical if you get in on the 3am train.. otherwise had a great time, the bar downstairs is good for a beer and the brekkies are great value!

Staff did not know much information about onwards travel to Bled. Good hostel. BEds very comfortbale and late check in was had for the 2am train from Venice.

The place is nicely decorated, but the space is very small (we stayed in a room of 5, and we could barely move around). Otherwise, we were very happy with the hostel, walking distance to the center of Ljubjana.

No lockers in room, small beds, no common room, no TV, no aircon and in general just a horrible allround atmosphere that almost made me want to go home. I highly recommend NOT staying here.close

An enjoyable stay although somewhat noisy if you are an early to bed person... I think clarity around the "free internet" needs to occur. 15 minutes free on the first day of your check in is not "free internet" - perhaps state that it is 15 mins free on first day.

AS a Hostel goes it was pretty good, original comes to mind. It can get a little claustrophobic as its an old jail and you are in a cell, but its an experience. Its in the middle of a Slovenian style artist squat. The cell we stayed in was small and inconvenient (e.g. no mirror, the bars inside blocked either the wardrobe or the cell exit, the linen didn't stay put on the odd-shaped bed). Most of the hostel really doesn't feel anything like a prison. A great place to stay if you need to be near the rail station, but don't go out of your way to take the guided tour around this place.

This is a good hostel - the staff are quite rude but if you can oversee that it is quite a nice place to stay. Rooms are small and the sun comes in early in the morning but overall not bad

Great Prison Hotel. Rooms could do with airconditioning (or even a fixed ceiling fan) though as it swelters in summer!!! Great fun friendly staff!

We expected a typical backpacking scene and were suprised at the children and older crowd staying there. The staff was not as helpful as we've experienced elsewhere. Also the luggage room was often left open. The theme is definitely the best part of this place.

Just great! Lovely city, and the hostel keeps all its promises! Great food and good cocktails.The cells are amazing. Use your chance to get a guided tour, unfortunately we didn't find the time. Only one thing to complain about; Internet access is too expensive (3 Euro / hour).
