Before Expo' 98 the area was the site of a dis-used oil refinery and now it's an environmentally friendly public area. The Vasco da Gama shopping center is a large shopping complex inside an amazing building, flanking it are two 25 story buildings that resemble ships and fits in with the whole areas "nautical" theme. Parque das Nações has Portugal's largest arena where a wide range of activities happen on a nightly basis from concerts to shows. There are a wide range of museums, including The National Museum, Aquarium of Portugal, Science museum and are places for regular exhibitions. A multitude of restaurants line certain areas of the place with one of the biggest ranges of food's from Chinese to Portuguese and from Irish to Mexican. Parque das Nações prices vary from cheap to all out flaunting of money to fit anyones choice. The nightlife is another aspect that makes this area so special in Lisbon.close
