This famous, famous cafe has a reputation to live up to, and it does. Although they apparently sell 10,000 Pasteis de Belém, the fantastic crispy pastry outside, with a soft, vanilla-ey custard -slightly burnt on top - on the inside...these really are the original and best in the city. Busy,... more This famous, famous cafe has a reputation to live up to, and it does. Although they apparently sell 10,000 Pasteis de Belém, the fantastic crispy pastry outside, with a soft, vanilla-ey custard -slightly burnt on top - on the inside...these really are the original and best in the city. Busy, but we found a seat quite easily, it was cheap, good service and the beautiful tiles on the walls are also worth seeing. The main counter is beautifully mirrored and this is overall a good, cheap, delicious must do!close

If you like pastries then this is the place for you! This pastries appear to be unique to Portugal and are delicious. Belem is a cool part of the city, a little bit more laid back and this cafe/ pastry shop is well worth a visit.
