Strangely located behind a petrol station in the industrial area of Leipzig. From town, by Sbahn (train) 20 mins, and the last evening one is at 23.01. However, comfortable rooms, excellent value for money, especially as all you can eat breakfast buffet is included.

A bit too far from the centre but not too longer journey on the s-bahn. Also...this hostel is in an industrial area which may put people off but for me it was fine. A good, clean hostel - just a shame it was far from the centre

We did not have a good experience here. The hotel is in an industrial section on the outside of town, and as soon as you drive into the parking lot it smells like a garbage dump. There was some type of recycling facility or garbage collection center right next door to the hotel. We were woken up early the next morning by the sound of a bulldozer scraping up piles of broken glass and dumping it in some kind of metal container. Though the smell from the garbage wasn't as strong in the room, it still smelled since you had to leave your windows open for ventilation. When we first drove into the parking lot (parking is free and plentiful) I was looking for the hotel and all I saw was this metal industrial building...but that was actually the hotel. Inside it was fine. It is an older place that has been remodeled and given a fresh coat of paint, wallpaper, and new bathrooms and furniture in the rooms. Everything was pretty clean except for a bit of mildew on the shower curtain and some soap scum at the bottom of the shower. The beds were really uncomfortable though, and it was the only place on our 2 month trip where the bed was uncomfortable enough to keep me from sleeping. We eventually put our blanket/comforters underneath us and that gave enough padding to soften out the springs. When I was unable to sleep after a couple of hours, I decided to get up and go use the coin operated internet point upstairs in the hotel. But after about 20 minutes the computer just totally shut down without warning and I lost half of my money. It was probably on some automatic timer to shut down in the middle of the night, but there was no warning. By this point, I didn't know if I should laugh or cry! We were very thankful to be gone when we left. Unfortunately, this is only the third negative review we've had to give in 2 months of travelling. I feel a bit bad doing so because the staff was reallllly nice and I think they are trying to make things as good as possible but there are just a number of things wrong...especially the location next to the garbage place which they will never be able to overcome.close

I can just recommend this hotel if your're a German-speaking budget traveller, because this hotel situated far away from the down town as a matter of fact, a minus. Generally the best hotel in this price range.

It's a great place to stop overnight while you are traveling. Not a place to stay for a vacation. The staff was very friendly. I would stop here again because of the low price and the cleaniness of the hotel.

It's a very nice little hotel with a good character. You have pay-tv for free and the room was very clean. On the other hand it's not that near from the center of the city, from Leipzig Mainstation 'till the hotel it's about 40min (walking included).

The hotel is good value for money though, and the breakfast goes on for ages which is a really good idea for those who don't like getting out of bed early for the 9 o clock breakfast call.close

Great place for sleeping, but bit far from centrum and...well in the middle of industrial area. If you just want to sleep tight and eat great breakfast, this is a place for you. If you want to go to down town and party allnight, think again.

I only wish I would have known how to get to the Stern before I arrived in Leipzig. Finding the "Industrial Area West" train station through the unmarked street and then the wooded path is not that easy. The alternate route, walking down Merseberger from where tram no.7 stops is quite far. It would be extremely helpful for guests if there were signs on the road to/from the Industrial Area West train station, and if guests were provided information that they should take the S1 train to the Industrial Area West train station upon making a reservation.close
