Most of the accommodation is resort based, people are so friendly and you can get arround the island in about 2 hours. Hire a car one of the days and take a trip to the Datai hotel and to Tangjung Rhu beach at sunset - amazing. Perfect for a quiet holiday where you just want to get away from it all.close

Alcohol is...more This is a resort that couples and families would like. It is not a party spot like Thailand. Lots of women in conservative Muslim outfits with head scarves, but they are very friendly and easygoing, You can wear shorts but don't go shirtless off the beach. No police. No traffic. Alcohol is extremely cheap in all stores. Beer in shops is half the price of Thailand and the imported Scotch whiskeys are so cheap you can afford a liter a day. (It's a duty-free island.)close

– posted on Nov 2008 2Really enjoyed staying here. Compared to other places on the island the rates were very cheap. The staff were always happy to help. Nice touch with everything run on an honesty basis. Wish there were non-private shared dorms but still a good place to meet people. Would love to come back sometime!

Kedawang Beach Inn 74%
We had a room with a small patio. Lovely place just back from the beach with communal kitchen. Staff are really lovely and helpful.

– posted on Nov 2008 8We loved staying here - the chick on the desk was LOVELY and really helpful. Room was great and it's pretty much on the beach too! (and on the same lane as Oasis beach bar), Definately recommend it.
