the room is rather small when the mattress is laid, leaving limited space for walking (to the toilet). sheets are not changed daily and there was coffee stains on the wall. but owners are very friendly and short distance from kyoto station.

Excellent location beside JR Kyoto station! Staff are lovely. The building looks a little bit worn inside but it is a good place to stay.

The security was weak. They leave the room keys on a tray at the front desk and leave the desk unattended. Anyone can walk in take a key and enter the room. Otherwise, good location, helpful staff, traditional Japanese with shoes at the door, foton on the floor. Lots of shops and restaurants in...

Excellent experience to stay in a ryokan room - very comfy too. The owner couple were very friendly and helpful. Free internet was a bonus. We'd definitely recommend them.

Security management of the keys can be improved. Instead of putting the keys on the table, a key drop box may be useful for security.

The staff was helpful but the directions are hard to find. They only had a triple room so we had to pay for 3 even if we're a couple, so we were ok with that until we saw the tiny room, we had a hard time to figure out how to put two futons on the floor, I don't know how you would fit 3.close

Convenient location from Kyoto Station. The staff is very helpful and they have free internet. Small rooms but it worked for us because the majority of the time we were exploring Kyoto. The private bath was nice. It had a hotel feel to it, not like a hostel.

I'm not so keen about leaving room key at the front desk, which is mostly unattended, and the keys are visible to everyone that walk in n out of the building. Other than that... the location is great, room is clean.

Since we just wanted to grab a few hours of sleep one night, price and location were most important. We were very pleased with the Station Hotel Seiki. It was the smallest room we'd ever stayed in, but clean, with good basic features, plenty of hot water, and a five-minute walk from the train station. Maps were for sale in the lobby at reasonable prices. Highly recommended!close

The woman told us she had no rooms eventough we reserved the room and paid the deposit. And her only excuse for this was that we did the reservation the day before at a late time so she did not know until we came. Could That Be A REASON? I mean it is impossible to find another hotel with a cheap price for the same day with all the luggages you have when kyoto is in its best season, full of tourists. Later she told she could send us to another hotel which was a little more expensive. In addition my deposit money was gonna burn. Moreover first she did not want to give the deposit money back and added that hostelworld got the money not her. After a long talk and showing serious attitude I could hardly get my deposit money back and got the hell out of there. <The situation they put us into was really annoying. Obviously there is no strong contact between the web reservation and hostel.> I recommend everyone to not rely on the web too much also call the hostel before reservation if possible>close

While the location for this accommodation was awsome. It lacked in so many other ways. The bathroom was tiny, with a tendency to overflow whenever the water was used, bubbling out fluff and hair gunk onto the floor... if you like having your knees on the wall in front of you when you use the toilet... then this is ideal! The toilet sounded like it could suck the entire building in at each and every flush (incredibly loud).... speaking of loud... the walls are very thin and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our illustrious neighbours for the late night entertainment... Once the fouton are on the floor, there is no place for anything else. The staff did not speak to us... only at check in... and then we had to approach first The body soap in the bathroom smelt nice... erm... there was an elevator for convenience and our bedding was clean. We were not convinced of the security when we were required to leave our keys on the front counter everytime we left... considering the staffs lack of attention to customers.. this seemed a little lack lustre for security and piece of mind when we left each time.close
