I really liked Kuranda backpackers, I thought the cleanliness was good (and I'm ex-military), the staff worked regularly at cleaning, and it is an old building the tropics. It' not clean and the secutity depends on trust. But it has definately character. So if you want to go to Kuranda and decide not to do it in 5 hours, this hostel is a cheap place to get a roof above your head. It will be a quiet night and you will meet people who are not just looking for...

Loved the hostel - very quirky, and the staff were SO HELPFUL and friendly! I felt well looked after and very welcome. The hostel was spotless, but my one comment would be that the blankets are very ready for laundering!
