okay, we were confused! is the hump a hostel, a night club, a bar, a resturant, a hotel, an internet cafe, a roof top sporting area?? It has it all - but if you are looking for a quiet cosy place to stay, this is not it! It's very noisy and you can't bring your own food to the common areas. The hostel was a lot of fun. The only complaints I would have would the smoking in the common areas and the less-than-perfect bathrooms, which are quite small and inconvenient.

One of the best hostels I ever stayed, I will come back to Kunming, and I sure will come back to this hostel. The atmosphere is great, it's near the bus and train station and you can just have lots of fun in the hostel itself without going out. What more do you need? Almost nothing, it's great.

great location and great social atmosphere as well. the loungeroom and rooftop terrace are awesome for hanging out on top of kunming watching it all. only downside is the noise from rooms, the street chatter is loud and sounds as though right next to you so if you are a light sleeper be prepared.

Good rooms, though you have to have the 300 series, cause the 200 series are right above a discotheque, so one can't sleep at all.

the rooms are very basic and could use a bit of sprucing up. ie a reading light would be nice. Otherwise location is great and staff was reasonably helpful.

Great place, but could use a clean up. Maybe some new paint and repairs. If you have a problem with shared shower/bathroom then I wouldn't recommend it, but overall good location and fun in Kunming.

The Hump was a great hostel. The rooms were very basic but that's all that was necessary. It seemed kind of odd to have a pool table right in the middle of the most used walkway, but it facilitated a fun time. The outside patio is great, the view of Jinmabiji Square is very cool. Definitely would...
