Runs like a regular business hotel. Good decor in the rooms, bathroom is very nice with prompt hot water. Staff are friendly, but barely speak English. Great location, too. Google maps will find it for you if you search for Mingtong Yinxiang.

Good size room, clean, friendly staff. Only one shower for 'shared facility bedrooms' but wasn't a problem so good value.

More hotel than hostel. Hard to find. From Kunming hotel head away from the traffic lights towards Bank Of China, do a right and first left. Would stay again.

The rooms in this hotel are extremely nice. Shared bathrooms are nice as well, lots of hot water. Rooms even have non-alcoholic 'mini bar' with noddles, water, chips, coffee. Staff doesn't speak English very well, but we didn't need much.

lack of air-conditioning was a real drawback, our room was really too hot. but other than that it was a nice place to stay.

Rooms were lovely, very clean but be warned, nothing in the room is free!! It definitely lacks any sort of atmosphere though as there's no common room. If you're planning on staying in Kunming for a while then I wouldn't advise staying here.close

Very quiet at night, yet within walking distance to markets, shops, Lonely Planet restaurant recommendations.

Loved the big, bright, airy room. This place also has in-room internet connection! Staff is super nice and helpful but lack English skills.

The lady that was at the reception when we arrived wouldn't call a taxi for us, the next day it was no problem for the other lady that was working at the reception. Not a bad stay here, room is pretty clean (bit of fungus in bathroom) and nice but the above mentioned was a bit of a pity for us.close

More hotel than hostel. Make sure you book private bathroom (else: very limited showers, only betw. 9am-10pm!). Staff speaks litle English. Daily roomcleaning! Area is very nice, great taiwanese pancake around the corner (with your back to entrance, first street left, after 10 mts, yellow signs).

I think this is a nice place to have a rest during travel. The only thing I am not that satisfied is that I stayed in the 4th. floor but the bathroom is on the 3rd. floor. BTW, the Bus no. 52 changed and can not arrive at the hotel. You need to change another bus for one stop.

Kunming is a good place, otherwise one of the calmest cities in China. The staff at our hostel could speak a LITTLE English, though they were kind and helpful.

There's not much of a hostel atmosphere for travellers to gather and chat, but there's free internet and they let us leave our bags all day while we looked around after we'd checked out. They were also pretty helpful with questions about the city.close

We have been there only for one night but the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were big and clean and the bathrooms too. You need only 5 minutes by feet to reach downtown.
