Number one thing - the breakfast buffet was amazing and all included in the room price. The staff will help you out with whatever you need. I liked it a lot.

The travel office is efficient, the staff is friendly, and the rooms are a good value. They also had a very nice shuttle service which made our arrival very seamless (we were able to avoid the predatory cab drivers who seized upon us at the airport). My only significant complaint is noise level -- the doors are poorly designed in such a way so that they must be SLAMMED to close. Camellia is a popular hotel, so during peak evening hours the doors are slamming constantly, which made things difficult for a light sleeper such as me. If you're awakened easily, bring earplugs (if you think you can buy them in Kunming, good luck!) or request a fan for some nice white noise.close

This place is ok, but some of the staff are quite rude. On our first night we had cockroaches in our room and at first the girl on reception did not believe me, we finally got to change rooms the following afternoon. Would not stay here again.

I found the attitude of the Reception staff unhelpful, almost to the point of rudeness and were it not for the convenient location would probably not choose to stay there again. Also few of the usual YH services were available (e.g. travel & ticket purchese arrangements; advice re: what to see & do in Kunming & around' contact & booking with other hostels/ I was told that none of these services could be made available. for me, the best part of my brief stay was a foot massage in the massage parlour on the floor below!close

I ended up becoming quite accustomed to my morning rice congee with prunes, although the selection did not vary at all. The rooms were great, for the most part. We much appreciated the BBC news channel and watching downhill skiing competitions in English, after days of no English television. One complaint is that the bus shuttle we booked for Dali was the kind the Lonely Planet warns about. It only goes as far as Xiaguan, then makes you fend for yourself the last 20 miles. The taxi was not horribly expensive--40 yuan for two--but it was a major inconvenience and unpleasant surprise. The hotel does not make calling overseas easy, so do your calls home either before or after. The internet is relatively cheap, and it was nice to be able to change money in the lobby.close

Many staff were Rude but a gentleman on main desk, the Salon people and the girls in the small bar across from main building makes it all good. Thanks for the good staff, please improve on the Business center!!

The hostel could do with a noticeboard for travellers to post messages. A decent book exchange would be good too.
