Kuala Lumpur has all the trademarks of a South-East Asian capital - the shopping is cheap, the weather is hot, the traffic is chaotic and the food and drink is plentiful. Commonly abbreviated to KL, it is also the cultural, political and commercial centre of Malaysia. During a visit one can witness the hectic lives the locals lead in its distinctive neighbourhoods, see the buildings where the country is run, and marvel at some of the most famous skyscrapers on the planet.

Most clubs like Zouk, La Queen, Liquid Bar, Frangipani and many those along Jln P. Ramlee, played house, techno and trance music. Don\'t expect too much on RnB and Hip Hop coz you can only find it at Poppy Garden on Friday night beside Rum Jungle. For those who loves to dance n groove, you might want to check out Rumm behind a big Thai Club, beside La Queen off Jln P Ramlee. Not forgetting, for those who prefer great bands playing those rock n roll songs, lastest jamming, Rum Jungle, Aloha and many more down the road in Jln P Ramlee will satisfied your night with great perfoarmance and vocal.close

The bird park at the lake gardens is way better than that of singapore's (my homeland). I rate it first class. We were pleasantly surprised. Very educational and really experiential. The bird show is impressive. We got the cheapest horse ride ever at Titiwangsa Lake. Only RM 1.50 for one round, as compared to s$5 or S$10 in our country, and it's so much more exciting! For families with children, head down to Mid-valley shopping mall where there is a kids mega gym at the top floor. It's huge and happening! Only RM17 for one full day of fun. We dropped our pesky toddler there for half a day and it was really worth it. We enjoyed Mr Bean - the movie at only RM10. The KLCC Aquaria is worth a visit - 1st class destination. In fact, there are so many places to have fun that we can't get enough! Places we have visited for this trip: Petronas Tower sky bridge / zoo / butterfly park / lake gardens / bird park / mines wonderland / KLCC Aquaria / Mid-valley shopping mall / Petaling Street / Lake Titiwangsa / Eye on Malaysia / Batu Caves.close

It is, however, a pretty easy hub if you are travelling around SE Asia- especially if you are using AirAsia. It is calmer, smaller, and easier to deal with than Bangkok- without the tuk-tuk driver's bothering you, without the overwhelming amount of people and traffic, without the street vendors everywhere. It is a little cooler too, which is nice. Yet, it lacks the shopping opps of Bangkok- the Thais love to shop, and lacks the entertainment/dining options there too. Basically, I enjoy KL for the diversity in culture, which is rare in Asia. Malays, Chinese, and Indians- three very different Asian peoples- mixed with a bit of Arabs, Westerners, and other international peoples, make the place refreshingly multicultural and open.close

  3. Tune Hotels Downtown Kuala Lumpur 84%

If you book through hostelworld.com there is a big chance that Tune Hotel will just ignore your booking and give your booked room to someone that made the reservation through their own website. Happened to me. They did not even help me find a new hotel.

The location of the hotel at Imbi (very close to the Imbi monorail station) is very convenient. It is also close to the shopping centres. Being a Business Class hotel, it had all the amenities. The breakfast spread is also good. Only problem I faced is that the Hotel refused to honour the advance...

It took the front desk staff quite a long time to locate our booking. We waited for over half an hour while this staff was checking. At last a second staff named "Sharina" came to assistance and she located our record right away. She was very helpful and very friendly, a true asset to Melia Hotel.

A few staff were not very helpful when enquiring about KL, and the breakfast buffet is good but understaffed and overcrowded! Also, the internet did not ever work. Top Rated Kuala Lumpur Attractions

  1. Chinese Night Market80%

The night markets are hot, noisy, smelly, aggressive, pushy – in fact, everything you’d hope for in a good market. You’ll find any kind of “genuine imitation” your heart desires here, and some good local cuisine hot off the stands (if you’re brave enough).

The museum has a wide range of jewellery, ceramics, glassware, architecture, literature, and much more besides, on exhibition. The museum is large and provides a wealth of exhibits, but spacious and a very pleasant place to escape the exhausting heat outside.
