I was amazed at how friendly the local people are in KK. Its a gateway to the rest of Sabah but is a lovely little city in its own right. Dont just pass through.

not a lot do really. it rained three days on the trot so spent them in the cinema. shops sell maninly dodgy knock offs, alot of kids begging, lots of cockroaches and far too many rats hanging around food stalls.

its an average city but just spend a bit of time and effort to really get a handle on it. make an attempt to talk to the locals as they are really great people and this is what i travell for is to interact with locals as much as possible.

This island is very beautiful. You can see many beaufiful fishes near the beach. You can play different activities in this island. For example, sea walking, swimming, BBQ, etc. It is a good pace to relax.

A fantastic city where nothing is exactly too busy . It is a gateway to the mountain and the island resort. A mere look at the sea water and the fishes swiimming in it, you never thought that the whole place is real. Labuan Island, only three hours on the express boat away, resembles paradise. People are ever so friendly and polite.

A very good place to suit all kinds of holiday makers where seaside with crystal clear water is at your doorsteps and the cool mountain resorts are only an hour away by road. Kota Kinabalu certainly the best place to suit all kinds of moods I can think of in the region. Hardly anyone who came here once will not make a second visit!

I would highly recommend Borneo Global Backpackers to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The location of the place is really centralised and the staffs there were very attentive and helpful. The help in getting transport etc. was also excellent. Overall, good value for money, conveniently located, good service and very clean.

Kota Kinabalu (or lovingly known in short as KK) is the capital city of the state of Sabah in Malaysia. You can fly to KK from Kuaala Lumpur or directly from many citiees inlcuding Sin gapore and Hong Kong. I flew there by Aire Asia from KL. Whole journey took 2 hours. The KK town is a mix bag, modern buildings yet full of old world charms. What to look out for : 1) Grilled seafood next to the big wet markeet building after 5pm. 2) Try the thousand andone different dishes and snacks for dinner annd watch the sunset from the stalls 3) Cheap dinners at the esplanade, theey will definitley overcharged you but they should always turn out to be cheaper than what you would have paid back home 4) Try Sunday market ( Jalan Gaya), be prepared to walk and overwhelmed your enses, fresh country produce, weird knick-knacks and try the local snack and dishes. 5) Take a cab to Lok Kawi Wildlife Centre to see local wildlife , orang utan are here if you dont have the time to fly to east coast for Sipilok Orang Utan Sanctuary. 6) Take a boat trip/tour to the islands, Gaya, Memutik and Manukans islands.Snorkelling, diving and al kind o water sport.
