We offer BUDGET accommodation with 8 new (2005)Thai style huts each with a double bed, fan, toilet, hot water shower and hammock. WE have 2 hut sizes. Our small huts are ideal for 1 person staying alone ($7.50) but a little cramped for 2 sharing (but not impossible). Our larger huts are ideal for 2 people ($10.00).All huts have been refurbished and improved in october 2007.As with all hostels on this site prices are based on 2 people sharing. We have a restaurant in our resort with a BASIC traditional Thai, and also a western menu. From our reception you can hire transport and arrange any number of trips around the island such as fishing, snorkeling and elephant trekking if required. We are in the Bailan area of Koh Chang and are 1 minutes walk away from a SMALL beach and have a sea view from all our huts.PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE ARE NOT ON THE BAECH and the beach is SMALL and in places ROCKY (in the water) but quiet and secluded and ideal for reading or having time alone .LONELY BEACH is 1.7km away (to the sand) and Bang Bao beach 3km in the opposite direction. We are 40 minutes drive from the ferry pier and not as yet a prime tourist location and this provides a very unique and unspoiled feel for the whole area however this means that you will need to rent a motorbike (200 baht per day) or rely on the pick up taxi service if you want to get around. A small but expanding village is only 500 meters south from the resort. Here you will find a small market, a couple of bars and restaurants, a bakery, internet shop, laundry service, travel agent and even a very good sauna 1km north is lonely beach with lots more restaurants, bars and night life.(And late night noise) We aim to offer you peace, quiet ,clean and comfortable accommodation at AFFORDABLE rates. PLEASE NOTE WE ARE A BUDGET / BACKPACKER RESORT SET UP FOR YOUNG OR YOUNG AT HEART PEOPLE WHO CAN THINK FOR THEMSELVES AND DO NOT REQUIRE 24 HOUR ATTENTION....THAT IS WHY WE ARE SO CHEAP ....WE WILL DO OUR VERY VERY BEST TO MAKE YOUR STAY WITH US AS INTERESTING AND ENJOYABLE AS POSSIBLE BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR PAMPERED LUXURY PLEASE CHECK INTO ONE OF THE MANY BEAUTIFULL HOTELS ON KOH CHANG AND PAY 5 TIMES OUR PRICES.(did i mention we are not on the beach :) ) Have a safe journey throught Thailand NEW OFFER If you are 2 or more people in a group and stay 5 nights or more we will pay your taxi back to the ferry when you leave us (90 baht per person) If you are traveling alone stay only 3 nights or more and we'll do the same for you. Also we can offer a 5 - 10% discount on all diving courses booked through us.(accommodation paid in advance) Check out www.ployscuba.com for available courses but make sure to book with us on arrival to get your discount.

The huts were ok quite clean but the beds were the hardest we had in our travels and we found some hard beds! David the manager was a top bloke though and did his best to inform us of what activities to do.close

Not only had he rented out our intended Bungalow to someone else eventhough that we had tried to contact him in advance to let them know we would arrive on the last ferry. It was impossible to contact him by phone and once we arrived in the evening it looked completely closed down-no person around anywhere and dark. 2 persons arrived later who knew how to contact the owner on the phone , they really did not care about where we would stay and just sat down and watched tv and the owner just said too bad , I have already let it out to someone else. Very rude people. After walking in the dark we however found a very friendly place to live called SAN SUK bungalows. Big hug to the english guy Micke and his girlfriend Oj that took care of us! Lot of other people we meet had experienced the same with Bailan before so be aware!close

Oh man. You don't want to go there unless you're real hard core backpacker and love construction sites as your private beach.

The huts are clean and well maintained and the family running it are very nice. However, we arrived in low season and we felt we were the only tourists in the area. The area is pretty but with not much of a beach and you need a 20 or so minute ride to find a decent one.

A nice place, however it should be noted that the place charges per person and not per room.

Bit dissapointed with the price (when buying online, much cheaper to just call and book the room and negotiate a rate when arriving). Private beach is very rocky and really only swimable in the morning. Really didnt find this hostel value for money although nice.close

had a really good time at the bungalows , the staff are really friendly and helpful you just have to ask for anything you may need and nothing is to much trouble . I cant praise this place enough and we will certainly stay here again if we come back to koh chang .

I think what made this place great was the friendliness and helpfulness of Ned and his friends. We were made to feel very welcome. He even took us fishing for squid and cooked them up for us. If you want a small place with a personal feel then this is the place.

This whole island is amazing, just get there soon before it becomes a tourist trap like Samui. Dave's place is ace, got it's own little beach and if you ask him he'll take you fishing with his friends for a few baht.
