we booked this hostel online, got booking confirmation and a deposit was taken from my credit card. when we were nearly there we phoned to confirm pick up from the baz bus. they said they had no booking in our names and had no room for us to stay. the man on the phone was extremely rude and said... more we booked this hostel online, got booking confirmation and a deposit was taken from my credit card. when we were nearly there we phoned to confirm pick up from the baz bus. they said they had no booking in our names and had no room for us to stay. the man on the phone was extremely rude and said he would call us back which he never did. i would not book through hostel world again.close

The doors didn't have locks. The ambiance and location were cool, but safety and security were completely lacking. I've stayed at hostels all over the world, and this was by far the worst! There wasn't anyone on 'guard' throughout the night, and hostelworld.com didnt even let them know we were...

the vibe was great, nice that there is a large indoor chilling area as the weather was bad when we were there. thanks a lot!

Bit of a case of faded glory here but still an excellent place to kick back and relax for a few days beside the beach. The fire in the evenings is really cool and the Braai's are delicious too.

No locks on room doors, but that was no problem. Lovely place right on the beach, and there was even a little dog to play with in front of the fire at night!

They are a few "must haves" for a BP: a solid roof, electricity and a clean bathroom. all of these critierias didn´t apply to the room and BP respectively. The roof in our room had a leak and at 2am it started to rain and the water dropped on our bed so that we had to move to a dorm... more They are a few "must haves" for a BP: a solid roof, electricity and a clean bathroom. all of these critierias didn´t apply to the room and BP respectively. The roof in our room had a leak and at 2am it started to rain and the water dropped on our bed so that we had to move to a dorm in the middle of the night. futhermore we had no electricity in our room different from the others. we had just one oil lamp to illuminate the very dark room. in the bathroom they have two shower cabins. the door of one of it was totaly damaged and layed incide the cabin so you can use just one shower. you can imagine, that we didn´t sleeped well and we complained about all this. the staff gave us a discount but I think we would came back to the BP. otherwise buffalo bay is such a nice place with a wonderful lonelier beach, without the BP we would never had come to this place.close
