Firstly the location is very good; literally around the corner from the main street of... more My boyfriend and I spent the Bank Holiday travelling around Cork/ Kerry region. I booked this guesthouse based on good reviews on this website. Sadly we were both a little disappointed with Countess House. Firstly the location is very good; literally around the corner from the main street of Killarney. the owner is friendly and the foreign girl at reception was very helpful in providing information etc. The problems were as follows: the room was FREEZING on arrival: i mean actually being warmer outside than inside. When we asked about the heating, we were told it 'comes on at 5'. Bearing in mind it was 3pm that answer was of little use! The towels provided HAD NOT been washed since the last guests: they reminded me of towels that might be in my backpack after 2 weeks travelling, in need of a good wash. This really is NOT acceptable, especially when the guesthouse charged us 82euro between us. Check out was at 11am, fairly standard and not a problem. However at 10.50, while my boyfriend and i were just about finished our packing, a knock came to the door with a voice shouting 'everybody up'. Honestly it felt like boot-camp! I know these complaints seem petty but combined they were very annoying and made me feel that we could have got much better value for our 80 odd euro. I would try another b and b or guesthouse on this road. I would not recommend this place: there is soooo much accommodation available in Killarney there is no reason to suffer in the cold in this place! other little gripes included the bed NOT actually being a double bed, though it is billed as one, the TV only having 4 channels, the breakfast being fairly scabby (ie half a tomato on the 'full irish breakfast). When will people realise that the little things count and people like to be treated as people and not just a means for a fast buck. on departure, Rose told us that she was open New Years eve. now we know where to avoid!close

The B&B was very well located, close to the town centre yet quiet. Rose, the hostess, was very friendly, helpful, with good advice on what to do, where to go and where to eat. The breakfast was great, tasty and very filling. We'll definitely come back there when we return to Killarney!

This house is amazing. Everything is very clean, quiet, and very comfortable. Rose runs the house and she is one of nicest and most helpful people I have ever met. I wouldn't ever stay anywhere else in Killarney!
