People should also be told that it is not in the "tourist" part of town where large old hotels are but on the other side of a mountain.close

More a pensione that a hostel, this place provides great value in the iincredibly overpriced Karlovy Vary - a town which caters for rich Russian women wearing furs. This was an interesting place. They've obviously overhauled it and have spent a lot of time making it nice. But it's still like a very nice socialist hotel. Examples: the bathroom is really nice, but it didn't have a shower curtain, just a tub with a shower head. The beds were nice, but were... more This was an interesting place. They've obviously overhauled it and have spent a lot of time making it nice. But it's still like a very nice socialist hotel. Examples: the bathroom is really nice, but it didn't have a shower curtain, just a tub with a shower head. The beds were nice, but were still two twins in one frame with... two comforters. The lady at the reception didn't speak any english and apparently no german, which given the clientele of the town is really unfortunate. This hotel is also located about two blocks off the end of town, and Karlovy Vary is known for being overrun with Russians and Russian mafia, so this made us a little nervous. Overall everything was very nice and pleasant and the stay was fine, but it won't compare to a more westernized hotel, in either amenities or price.close
