Kanchanaburi is a nice enough place - but nothing crazy. The main reason I wanted to go there was because of the WWII bridge about which the movie "Bridge On The River Kwai" was made. It was pretty interesting to visit the area, cross the bridge and read about the POW's that built it. We didn't spend too long here though, as it's little off to the west to be part of the main tour of Thailand.close

Kanchanaburi was great fun. The value for money was one of the best in Thailand. There is SO much culture and sight seeing here (about 3-4 days). We seemed to have an unexpected session here so it was pretty fun. Thee food is great and cheap too. We walked to our guesthouse on the first day but...more Kanchanaburi was great fun. Infamous Burma-Siam 'death railway', is a must to visit. I'd recommend staying for 3/4 days in Kanchanaburi...we stayed at 'Sam' Place' and cycled out to the Bridge. Even if our bicycles were de-aired by a hopeful taxi man in search of a return fare! You can walk along the Bridge, with no real restrictions while a train tundles past you (which is a little...
