This is a really lovely hostel and the staff are so nice too, it was a really confortable stay and would return for sure. The hostel staff took us to and from the train station too as its a 15 min walk into town.

Very much appreciated laundry - free wash and only $2 for the dryer. Good internet access too, only $2 for 15 mins. A little bit old, but was clean.

Although we booked on line the accommodation contacted us directly and said they had "double booked" and our booking had been overturned. Consider this to be unacceptable and if there is a "double booking" the hostel is completely at fault for this. Good value and a very tasty and hearty roast dinner thrown in for free by Steve the friendly host. Any age mix of couples visiting at any one time. The friendliest hostel i've stayed at in nz!

We enjoyed our stay at Lyell Creek Lodge. The atmosphere was fun and wecloming and it was nice to stay off the main drag in Kaikoura. Everything was clean and nice. We would stay there again

although a 15 minute walk to the centre of Kaikoura the Lodge was just right for us. It was a quiet and restful place to stay.
