The Golden City Hotel, the only budget hotel in Jaisalmer with a swimming pool, welcomes you to Jaisalmer. This city has the last remaining Fort which is still occupied. We offer low prices with a high standard of accommodation, just right for the budget and economy traveller. We offer spacious rooms with balconies overlooking the city. All rooms have en suite bathroom facilities. Some rooms have air conditioning and tvs. Please be aware the our check out time is 9.00 am (the same all over Jaisalmer) so those people arriving earlier than this will have to wait for their rooms - I appologise in advance for this inconvenience. We also organise jeep and camel safaris to the Sand Dunes and transport and hotel bookings all over india.

I had brilliant stay at the Hotel Golden City, the rooms werer clean and the swimming pool a great asset especially in the heat of the summer. The staff were very helpful and got me anything I required. I also went on their camel safari which was great fun and I suggest anyone using the hotel...

The room was not ready when we arrived at 5.30am in the morning. The bathroom was unclean with the toilet leaking over the whole of the bathroom. The staff were not particularly helpful. Fortunately Jaiselmer was a beautiful town which meant we spent little time in our room, however, it was...

IMPORTANT: Staff are on the whole friendly, but if you decide to take the Camel Safari PLEASE WATCH OUT. They will try to sell you an 'all singing, all dancing' trek for 3000 rupees, but in fact you should only be paying 1000 rupees or less. This should include a full day trek, with jeep which drives you via several sites to where you meet the camels, 2 hour trek then lunch and another 1 - 1 and 1/2 hours camel trek to dinner. You should be travelling approx. 65 km to the dunes and then the jeep will take you back to the hotel, or you have the option to stay overnight and come back next day. Also, we heard that others were getting 2 days for about same price outside of hotel, so you may want to shop around. Once the price is negotiated, the trek is great fun, but just don't pay too much for it!close

The "extra bed" turned out to be a quilt several inches thick laid on the hard floor and we were told that providing the extra bed, or at least a mattress, was "impossible". We moved on to other lodging for the second night of our reservation.close

Good value for money hotel. Slightly pushy about trying to sell jeep/camel safaris at rates higher than what are otherwise available in the market. But did not push too far when we politely declined after making alternate arrangements. Continued good service and courtesy after that too.

We arrived at Hotel Golden City to be told that they had only one room for us even though we'd reserved two rooms through HostelWorld.com. Then they said they'd bring in an extra bed for the third person but the extra bed turned out to be a comforter-like blanket that was put on the floor. Generally, we felt like the staff cared about their camel-ride customers instead of the hostel customers since the camel rides are where the real bucks come in! (we think our second room was used to hold a camel-ride customer's luggage while they were on safari). Generally, we felt that we weren't well respected at this hotel and were just shoved into a corner and given routine answers to our concerns.close
