However, we also found the absolute level of squalor and filth to be far beyond what we had imagined. I have never seen so many truly horrific things in such a short space of time, and to walk out the first time, we felt shell shocked. We would not even consider ourselves to be 'virgin' travellers (maybe to India, but we have seen many other palces)... Do come here, do see it, but be prepared!! No one ever mentions how repugnant much of India is, and your guide book is unlkely to tell you about seeing dead dogs in open sewers, or rats eating human faeces off the train lines at the station, os seeing a man taking a dump by the side of the road....close

a nice place to stay in jaipur. everything is a rickshaw away and they wait out the front so its not hard to get them. just make sure you barter and if the price is too high just walk around the corner.

Hotel Arya Niwas 83%
Professional and reliable service. Staff were very helpful in providing safety advice. Although the location is in the middle of the old city, as a lone female traveller I felt very secure in the hotel. Bonus is the Hotel is within 15 mins walk to the fort. Food provided by the hotel...

1Whilst the rooms here are rather impersonal - as indicated in the LP - they are very clean and the whole establishment is a very professionally run place. It is much more of a hotel than a hostel. It has an excellent restaurant attached which has good food at a cheap price.
