A pleasant surprise on our trip. A beautiful waterfront promenade offered restaurants and parks. Cheap and easy public transportation. An affluent young professional population meant lovely food, shops, and night time entertainment. A massive bazaar rivaled Istanbul's. Refreshingly free from any tourism. A good place to see modern Turkish life. Beautiful weather and scenery.

the bazaar is really good.u can spend all day looking for things..not so much to see.but things and food are cheap n people are great! try stuffed mussels..can just relax n face the wide aegan sea

Went to catch with an old friend...ended up spending a week of total heavy metal partying in the best metal clubs i've ever visited anywhere in the world. Head for Bornova (uni district) for amazing nights out. Good security too with high police presence. Totally opened my eyes about Turkey as a country...Very nice place.
