Beautiful city. Big without feeling too big and shopping is excellent! The Arena is spectacular and if you can try and book to see a opera/show.

I loved Verona. It is a very easy going city. The only downside of our visit was that it rained the whole time we were there so that did not help - but would love to go back and see an opera the only thing that would put me off is the crowds. We saw Verona at a quiet time mainly locals and we were able to walk everywhere its really nice. The food in Verona is much better than Rome or Venice and restaurants are very reasonably priced. shopping is also great it has all the designer shops but alo your every day normal shop. A really great city well worth a visit. But stay central thats what we did.

I love Verona, a city I'd be happy to live in. It's charming, well run, very clean, with a strong sense of culture and identity and of course it has the excellent restaurants one expects to find in Italy. An evening people - watching in a café on the Piazza Bra is entertainment in itself - especially if the Opera is on in the Roman Arena - a fabulous sight in itself (season runs July - early Sept). A visit to the Opera in Verona is not to be missed - they tend to do the 'classics', rarely straying into more experimental territory, one of their stock pieces, repeated every second year or so, being Aida. It's a very very long opera, be warned! If you go for the cheap seats you must remember to bring a cushion - 1800 year old stone can be very hard and cold... LOL! This being Verona, Romeo and Juliet get a look in - well Juliet in particular, the (alleged) balcony the little tramp hooked the poor git from being a favourite tourist spot (see pic). Have a look also at the Piazza delle Erbe - probably the prettiest in Verona, with its market and frescos, as well as the lovely Piazza dei Signori - very palatial. If you like the history of art, head for San Zeno Maggiore, one of the most significant example of Romanesque architecture with a triptych by Mantegna inside.

It is a beautiful city and all the main sights are within realistic walking distance. The highlight of our trip was the visit to Jullietes' house, but be aware this is a very popular tourist attraction and it will be very busy. The Roman Ampitheatre within Piazza Bra is a magnificent sight to look at but it is still used as a venue for concerts and plays, so do a little homework before you leave and book tickets in advance.

Verona was the most picturesque location that we visited in Europe, it was achingly beautiful, and unspoilt by tourism. Very historic with Roman ruins in parts of the city but still with an Italian flair, therefore fabulous food. Try the bistecca di cavallo (horse steak) it is like a beef steak but slightly sweeter. The opera was a particular highlight too. It is a very romantic place and is highly recommended for couples.

A great city to contrast some of the larger Italian city centres. Many cultural activities to enjoy and lots of sights to see.

Verona is beautiful but you only need one day there as it's very small.

Verona is really underrated by the guidebooks. If you want a relatively quiet place to spend a few nights, consider Verona. Time it so you can catch a performance of your choice at the Roman Arena. The old-town area is typical of northern Italy (in our experience), with plenty of churches to visit if you like. The old city itself is clean, with plenty of shopping and restaurants around the Roman Arena. Take a walk along the river in the evening, or visit the fortress and bridge. This was one of our favorite places in Italy, perfect for a little more laid-back few days, rather than hustling to see the sights!

Verona is a beautiful city with loads to see and do and some amazing shops! Be careful when eating out as many restaurants serve horse and donkey meat!

I have to say we loved Verona. I think of all the towns we visited, it was our favourite. We started our holidays here and from the hotel (which was not very expensive) to the restaurants and bars and cultural centre, we thought it was beautiful. It is worth getting a Verona ´card´that you can buy in any newspaper stand...i think it was 8 or 9 euros and you have pretty much unlimited access to all the main historical and tourist sights..worth the money. The night life wass´t rocking but there are two or three main plazzas where there are lots of terrazzas open till 1 or 2 in the morning and the drinks are cheap. (The rest of Italy didnt have any better night life) The people are friendly and its a nice place for shopping, lots of winding streets. Its not far from the main train station and there are lots of buses. Its well worth taking the time to go for a walk during the evening when the street lights are lit, in the older part of Verona...its very pretty and reminded us os Salamanca(spain). You have to go and see Juliets balcony, its the main attraction..or rather touching her lucky boob is!!!

Great place to visit in its own right. Great to hop on a train and get to Venice for the day, or in the opposite direction, to Lake Garda. Wonderfull food and reasonable prices everywhere.

Was a good place to visit, 1-2 days is enough though. We found the public transport system a little tricky to figure out and the train station is out of the way. Good place though. Little english spoken.

When we first arrived we thought the city was lovely. We covered all the tourist spots - Juliet's house and tomb, the Opera etc - but by our second afternoon we had run out of things to do and see and were more than happy to be moving on. For sightseeing, Verona can definitely be covered in one day although an extra day would give you some time for shopping - the main shopping street seemed to have better choice than in other Italian cities we visited

We went to Verona to enjoy its culture, history, sights, Lake Garda, food, shops and weather. It was fantastic but Italy always is. The Verona card is worth every euro and the best of others I have bought in Europe.

Verona was a great city to sit back and people watch. Very entertaining to watch the Polizia sneak up on unaware illegal street vendors selling knock off brand-name purses. The bus system here was a bit strange as the driver would stop and make everyone get off half way (the connecting bus we were waiting for never actually came).

It's the city where I was born, so for me it's fantastic. A lot of interesting things to see in the city and in the countryside, Garda lake is very close and it's amazing in summer, party everywhere. There is a fantastic Opera festival in summer in the Arena...

Verona was a good, romantic city. The were a lot of things to do but they don't take much time. Many things were closed for renovations. The night life was pretty boring, not many place to go and sit down for a beer unless you wanted to watch football. Eating was excellent, food was delicious and good for the money. I enjoyed Verona but it was really only a day trip.

The most famous thing in Verona is the freaking \"Romeo & Giulette\" stuff, but the city has a lot of things to offer. You can see the coliseum and roman theater, cathedral and other big churches, the old wall, etc. It\'s not a very big city and of course doesn\'t have all the partying like Rome, but it\'s a nice place where you can enjoy without anoying crowds.
