Naples is surprisingly beautiful and covered with lovely buildings from the finest Italian architecture. You will find everything you need for a great city break from the famous Neapolitan pizza for your lunch to the most trendy and expensive designer shops. Naples has however a bad traffic issue, cars are flying all over the place, beware when you try to cross the streets, it is also not exactly a sparkling clean city but still has a lot of charm and appeal to it. |

I didn't spend a lot of time in Naples, it's a busy city and a good bit to see and do around. It is dangerous though so be on the guard, maybe that's what put me off, had a bit of an incident in the train station..Anyway if you are in Italy do go for a day to see 'real Italy' |

The city is really nice but there is much more traffic than other and is disorganized. |

Horrible place. pretty much everyone I've met who has visited here said the same. |

We found Naples to be very dirty and couldn't wait to leave! |

Give Napoli a chance and just let it sweep you along, dont fight it! This area of Italy is too beautiful to be missed. There is so much to do, so please dont just come for one day (ie, just to see Pompeii) because you will regret it! And come with a big appetite! |

I preferred the surroundings of Naples (Pompei, Capri) rather than the city by itself.
We were very disappointed by the archeological museum. We visited this museum in order to see the Pompei discoveries (mosaics, frescoes...) At the time we visited it, the 13 rooms about Pompei frescoes were closed (without being advised at the entrance) and we had to pay for an exhibition, we were not interested in ! Conclusion, we had to pay 9€ each for not seeing things that were supposed to be displayed ! |

Go to Pompei! |

Good home base for day trips (Capri, Pompeii, etc), but otherwise don't waste your time on the city. It's not very nice looking and parts of it are very seedy, if not dangerous. |

Great staff! Thank you! |

We didn't enjoy Naples and will be leaving off our list next time. It is simply a port to pass through to get to the other beautiful places in the south. |

naples is a very special place, but it's a lovely city. the only problem is the speed of the cars, you have to take care and it's very noisy... |

Naples is one of the oldest cities in Europe and it is heartbreaking that their amazing heritage is treated with such carelessness. The one must is the Archaeological Museum. No trip to Pompei, Ercolano or Oplontis will be complete without a visit to the museum. 99% of the mosaics, sculptures or anything of historical value has been removed from those ancient sites and is now in the museum.
Naples' food is lovely - better than the Amalfi Coast's and way cheaper... |

I really disliked Naples, the only reason I went was for the surrounding things (Amalfi, Pompeii, Capri)
Most of the people here I found were quite friendly though, except if you got in their way on the road that is.
The pizza here is fantastic! |

Naples was a very diverse and intriguing city. Certainly the truest italian city I've been to, it's dangerous, but still immensly fun. Just be careful and don't be stupid, follow Giovanni's advice, and you'll be golden. |

I'm not sure why Naples is so recommended - it's not very accessible for a tourist. The locals are rather hostile and the city itself is in rough shape. A couple lovely museums, and nice for its convenience to Pompeii, but generally a bit difficult for a single traveler... |

Beautiful city really, with to much things to do !!! I was there for two days and I would have spent 5.... |

naples city is not so clean comparing with the german ones, but i like some kind of feeling from Naples.
It should be some characters from the nature of south italy. |

Naples is a really great city to stay - theres always a lot going on and there is a good atmosphere. Avoid certain seedy areas around the train station, and make sure you have a lock for your bag. The pizza is amazing - go to Gino Sorbillo on Via Tribunali. Do the underground tour (on the same road - called Napoli Sotterranea) its good value for money (only 8 euros student) and really interesting. The park at Naples bay is a really nice place to relax if the weather is nice, but it is about the only green place in the city. Pompei is a really good day trip but is big so leave about 4 hours to go round. The bus up to Vesuvius is also a great trip you can do in half a day. Out of Venice, Florence and here, this was our favourite place in Italy - its not a gimmick or only highbrow culture - theres a lot to do for everyone and its affordable. |

I thought naples was scary, dodgy, unsafe, and not worth the stop over!! |

Most Italians do not seem to be kind to tourists unless they want to sell you something, especially if you talk to them in English. Getting information about travelling is almost impossible, we needed 45 minutes and passed 7 counters before we could get a ticket to Amalfi. If they give you information most of the time they seem like they are suffering or shrug their shoulders. People who speak Italian are luckier, they get information more easily. Most buses are late but sometimes early e.g. the bus coming back from Vesuv left early so we were forced to stay there for a whole hour probably because they want tourists to buy something. Also the trip to Vesuv took 20 minutes longer just because of the forced stop at a local shop where there was nothing else to do just to buy some kitch. If you ask the newsagent by the train stop in Sorrento where the bus stop is, as there is a note that it is replaced to XY street, he says why should he know where that street is...
I liked all the cultural heritage in Naples but locals do not seem to care much about it.
If you buy an artecard 7 days, be prepared that in several sites they only know about the 3-day card and you can enter at a reduced price only, not for free as it would be normal for the 7-day card. |

the great place to really just appreciate atmosphere of it, busy but not too busy, easily you can chill out wandering around & the access to the beautiful islands is a wonderful plus |

Naples is a ghetto. There is absolutely nothing to do there. It is only convenient because their is a cheap train that will take you to Pompeii. This city is dangerous, especially if you are a young female. AVOID NAPLES IF YOU CAN. |

This is great place for big city trip. Feel the noise & density of people. The public inner city traffic isn't so fluent but the area is small enough to walk with good shoes. |

It was amazing....from Pompeii to Mt.Vesuvious to Capri to Naples itself it was amazing. The pizza was the best I have EVER had! It was easy to get around and the people were extremely friendly. |

This place is a well kept secret in the south of Italy. It is italy in its rawest form. Nothing has been fixed up for the tourists, as there arnt many. For this reason the authenticity and italian culture of the region is rich and thriving. Although there is a need to watch your possessions, just as is the case through all of italy. The surounding regions are easy to get to and each offer a new amazing experience, atmosphere and culture. There just isnt enough time to see it all...but ill be back. Even as a lone female traveller! |

Im afraid to say that I did not like it here. I hope you all have a better time. |

Naples is a wild, hectic scene. While there are plenty of sites to see, and lots of things to do, its too noisy for me. |

When people think of Naples they think of petty crime and the mafia! Yes, some bits of Naples can be intimidating in places, but can't all cities? Neapolitans are cool people, and there's lots to see. Would easily recommend it to anybody travelling to Italy. |

Rough but real city, great pizza |

We love Naples. There is a surprise around every corner. Once you get used to the pace and the traffic, you can really enjoy it. |

We enjoyed Napoli, we did not feel like it was as bad for crime as we had been worned. It was convenient for catching ferries to Capri and transportation to Pompeii. You have to do both! Also make sure you tour the Castle near the port, very interesting. |

There really was nothing worth seeing here. I was using it as a base for Pompeii and Capri. But could have done the same from Sorento. Avoid if possible |

Pizza is astonishing!! |

I was suprised how few italians in the naples area spoke english! It never caused any problems, just be prepared with at least a few basic phrases and words in italian.
Lovely stereotypical italian city to visit. The ruins are amazing, the Herculaneum is a must-see.
Plan a whole day for Pompei, its huge and takes ages to see it all... however not all the rooms/areas are open.
Its difficult to find cheap places to eat (some places charge 22euros for a pizza but you can also find huge tasty pizzas for 6euro each).

Actually stayed in a small town closer to Pompeii and Herculaneum. It was okay, but there wasn\'t much to do in said small town after 3 or 4 because it was starting to get dark, and so you have to hang out at the hostel. |

Came from Milan. Weather was much nicer and the people were a lot friendlier than MIlan. |

At first glance Naples can seem dirty, seedy, downtrodden...but if you take the Funicolare up to the Vomero district, the posh bit, and look down over the whole city, somehow it all suddenly makes sense and the charm shows through. |

This hostel is really cool and clean and cheap which is a winner. Also close to sights pompeii etc |
|
|
 |
Not much to do in the city itself - come to visit Pompei and to eat the fantastic pizza! |

I found Naples to be dirty and a pretty shady. As a female traveling alone, I didn\'t feel that safe in a lot of Naples. Not to mention that there are trash and graffiti EVERYwhere! The Archeological Museum is one of the best in Italy, but unless you\'re really into that, maybe skip Naples. |
|

I really enjoy what I saw in Napoli. There\'s more to see there then you think and there is a ton of sights to see on the out skirts of Napoli; Pompei, Mt. Vesuvius, Capri and many more. Napoli also has the best pizza ever, so if you do anything in Napoli, you must get pizza!

Naples is a dirty and busy city. It has it\'s beautiful spots, but it\'s somewhat a spiderweb of streets and construction. It\'s nowhere near as charming as Florence, Venice, or Rome, and I would reccommend any of these before Napoli. However, it does have its gems (the Bay of Naples and the Museum of Archealogy) and it serves as a nice hub for the Amalfi coast! |
|

 |
There\'s a lot to see in Naples - probably more than you think, with Pompei, Herculaneum and Vesuvius nearby as well. Keep an eye out, though - I didn\'t feel at all safe there, though nothing bad happened. It\'s a very different experience to Rome. |

It\'s dirty, smelly, noisy, and full of chaos---and I LOVED it. This is a city many tourists don\'t get to in Italy because they hear too many bad things about it, but Naples showed me Italy at it rawest --this city had a real pulse and just made me feel alive with all the revving motorcycles and crazy drivers. |

Wiiiiicked hostel! great position, easy to find, brilliant staff, very helpful and nice :). Place is very new and beautifully crafted.
I didnt party in Naples, simply due to being there to eat and look around and this is much satifaction. But its a great local area away from tourists but still in the centre. |
