Founded by the Grand Duke Cosimo dei Medici in 1545, is the third oldest botanical garden and is still used in the cultivation of special plants. Its collection of azaleas draw a large number of visitors every year during the flowering period.

Botanic Gardens (closed last Monday of month) are huge, with a few exhibitions. There are some nice sculptures dotted around and it is very well mantained. It is really quiet which if you want to winddown after a morning of sighseeing. However, not much in the way of flowers or regional gardens, and we only found 1 spot to chill out by the fountain. If you have spare time do it if not leave itclose
