- decent location (10 minute walk from SMN Station) - so-so breakfast - so-so room: looks old. OK clean - Staff: an old man (at night and early morning) who cannot speak English (appear friendly though); 2 younger men (between roughly 9am-7pm) that are helpful and can speak English

We had the greatest time in florence. The hotel's a bit kooky but it's got charm. Breakfast was pretty ordinary but the quality of the staff made up for this. We loved the old man that did the graveyard shift, absolute classic!!

Though the breakfast served daily was simple, it was heartwarming and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Really made the stay more enjoyable. The kebab shop just 2 doors away served really good kebab donners as well. Would definately stay there again.

Would definitely stay there again. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner, but staff was very friendly, and breakfast was delicious.

Don't stay in room number 1! The noise from the scooters on the road combined with the security doors buzzing open at all hours made the room relatively unpeaceful. All in all though, quite a nice place, easy to walk to from the main train station.

The one thing was the shared shower was blisteringly hot, with the shower knob only knowing that temperature. Also, the first Italian breakfast I had was mediocre at best - with a a packaged croissant, instant hot chocolate, and powdered orange juice. At the least they gave breakfast unlike the other places I've stayed at in Italy. But i hope the above does not deter you. Other than that, I had a comfortable bed, TV with over forty channels on it, a very gracious management that was generous after I accidentally broke a plastic fixture, and a good location near the Duomo. I would stay here again, as long as I take my shower someplace else! While it's more difficult to meet people here versus at a conventional hostel, at the least you get some privacy and comfort for the price.close

Nice location. Breakfast was also included. The hotel smelled and the room was not very clean. The staff responded to my emails pretty quickly which was great. Next time I am in Florence, I will most probably look for another place to stay.

Hi there, I was not able to locate the hotel. I tried ringing the hotel several times to request for direction, but the person in charged could not speak english. As a result, we had to stay in another hotel. We hope we won't have to pay for the wasted night.

Also unlike most hotels they apparently changed towels after every two days, though after a bit of talking we were able to pursuade them to change ours on a daily basis, but then we were only there for two days. On the bright side it's pretty close to the main train station.close

It was fine, but know that there is one bathroom per floor, in the hall. The bathroom looked very clean but smelled awful.

However, when it came to cleanliness, that was a major negative. We had requested a private bathroom in in our room, and we ended up having to share it. This made for an awful experience, and our room was right next to the bathroom - the bathroom smelled, was not very clean, it smelled like raw sewage, and that smell came into our room every night we were there, the mosquittos got into both the bathroom and bedroom, and I left with numerous bug bites from staying there. With that said, we mind as well have been camping in the woods instead of having a roof over our heads. We were also rudely awaken by a guest next door screaming at the management about a "mini alligator" in her room - it was a small lizzard, but still.. who wants to sleep with a lizzard on the loose in their room?close

It was even closer to the Duomo (although Guelfa is close to the station which is also convenient). Patrizio led us there on foot and it was so full of character (in a good way) it had a kitchenette, a sparkling clean new bathroom, anda n espresso coffee maker. It was lovely. It was a little tricky to use the free phone and the coffee maker, so get directions from the staff if you stay there. There was no key, just a code pad, so I was paranoid about that, but it is in a quiet area and I did not fear for my safety or burglary. Overall we were very happy!!! Thankyou!!!..close
