Here was my experience: I paid for a double room for me and my girlfriend around lunch time. They told me to come back in a few hours and it would be ready. My girlfriend and I end up coming back to the hostel around 11 PM. The guy at the front desk then "informs" me that I actually owe him about 30% more than what I had already paid. I didn't feel like arguing so I just let it slide and paid. Our room then turns out to be directly beside the front desk and as we open the door the overwhelming smell of mold and moth balls hits both of us. The room is absolutely filthy and even has a hole in the floor with trash in it. We pull the sheets back and they looked as if they hadn't been washing in several weeks. My girlfriend then goes to use the bathroom, which is a hole in the floor. I've seen this before in Turkey, but this one was without a doubt the most dirty, which says a lot. After getting ready for bed, we realize that our heating unit and my girlfriend goes to ask the guy for an extra blanket. After giving us an attitude (and we were very polite), he comes back with what appeared to be something he wrestled away from a homeless person. The whole bed is so bad that we end up sleeping under and on top of our clothing so we wouldn't have to touch any of the sheets or pillowcase. We huddle up to stay warm and finally manage to fall asleep. Unfortunately, the sleep doesn't last long as we are awoken at around 3 am to a shouting match between the guy at the desk and an angry guest. Apparently, the guest came in from a long night of drinking to find one of the hostel staff asleep in his bed. Apparently, this was the second night in a row and he wasn't happy. The shouting then got louder as the entire staff at this point had come down and was yelling. Did I mention the top half our our door was made of glass, which was painted over? After about 30 minutes of screaming, they finally put the guest in a different bedroom. I attempt to go back to sleep, but am again disturbed by more shouting. Apparently, the staff put him in a private room that another group had reserved. The group was obviously upset and the staff threatened to kick all of them out at 3:43 AM if they didn't accept the situation. After the group goes back upstairs, the staff then proceeds to complain in Turkish about the situation for another 40 minutes, right outside of my door (literally less than 2 meters). I finally manage to get to sleep, but am awoken at 7:45 am, by a shouting match between the staff and a completely different group of guests. Apparently, the staff tried to increase the price on them as well. The girls were upset and the guy working there was being overly aggressive and was threating to call the police and have them sent to Turkish prison if they didn't pay the extra money. My girlfriend and I were so disturbed by the whole situation we didn't shower or anything. We got our bags and left. The only good thing about this place was the location, but keep in mind almost all the major hostels are in the same area, so trust me... stay elsewhere!!!close

we were cold (inadequate blankets), dirty (we washed only when we went to a hamam), and awake (there was construction directly outside our window). the man in charge was kind, but a bit agressive (our breakfast isn't good enough for you?). he did offer use of his umbrella...but then he couldn't... more we were cold (inadequate blankets), dirty (we washed only when we went to a hamam), and awake (there was construction directly outside our window). the man in charge was kind, but a bit agressive (our breakfast isn't good enough for you?). he did offer use of his umbrella...but then he couldn't find it. third floor room did have a partial view. they did let me use the desk's internet whenever i asked. but i had to use the bathroom in restaurants instead of in the hostel...not good.close
