If you are looking for a friendly place to stay while in Westport, why not pay us a visit. We are located just two minutes walk from the town centre, within sight of Croagh Patrick. So what do you look for in a place to stay? Do you find hotels too expensive? B&Bs too claustrophobic and hostels too communal? Abbeywood gives you the best of all three. If you cannot survive without a phone and a trouser press in your room, then Abbeywood is probably not for you. If however, you are looking for budget prices, a comfortable bed, hot showers, free continental breakfast, freedom to come and go as you please, private or shared rooms, access to cooking facilities and TV/Video, all set in landscaped grounds only a stones throw from the centre of Westport, then you are in the right place. Abbeywood is a former monastery, still retaining many of its original features such as stained glass windows, polished wood floors and high ceilings. Its situation, set in off the road in its own grounds makes it hard to believe it is so close to the centre of town. All the rooms have large picture windows with views over Croagh Patrick and the surrounding town. Having only recently opened its doors after renovations, the rooms are freshly painted, the beds are new, complete with certified orthopaedic mattresses and a brand new shower system has been installed. Come and visit us today, we guarantee you will be back! Please note that the mixed dorm contains 10 beds although only 8 beds are available on this site. Also, all groups of 8 or more people are required to pay a damage deposit of €20 per person on arrival, to be refunded on departure presuming there has been no damage caused to the rooms or complaints about noise from other guests. Facilities/Amenities: Off Street Car Parking; Hot Showers; No Curfew; TV/Video Room; Fully stocked self-catering kitchen; Safety Deposit for Valuables; Drying Room.

Very comfy for a one-night stay. The house the hostel was in was very nice. However, noise carries very well and I was kept awake by other guests drinking outside.

Good hostel near the city centre. It's absolutely worth the money. Rooms and toilets are clean and working. Full equiped large kitchen, separate dining and recreating room. Breakfast is good (toast, tea, coffee...)

This place is great! It is a couple of blocks away from the center of the town, and is quietly tucked away behind an old church and is surrounded by trees and a lovely view.

I have stayed in similiar accommodation to Abbeywood, however I could not give any of the others the high recommendation I can give Abbeywood for many things including cheerfulness, cleaniness, value for money. Good Job! For an extra low value point.....I would have loved some soap on the sink...

Lovely location, the grounds are just beautiful. The building itself had a slightly creepy haunted mansion feel to it (lots and lots of character), but we all agreed it was the best room on our trip. Comfy beds, lots of space in the rooms, close to town. Well worth the visit.

Abbeywood was really great. The girl that ran it (not sure of her name) was extremely helpful and accomodating. If I'm ever in Westport again, I'll stay here! The views from the bedroom were amazing!!

They were very helpful in explaining to me how to go about finding things and also how to drive in Ireland (which, given the lack of clear roadsigns is no easy task). The hostel is a great place for a rest, it's both out of the way enough not to be disturbed and close enough to the center of town to be convienient, within a five minutes walk of everything there is to do in Westport. However, while Westport is pretty it isn't particularly scenic or particularly exciting - may not be intended for the young thrill seeker.close

exceptional twin rooms. Hostel neat and tidy great kitchen with plenty of pots and pans. Would prefer to keep this place a secret to prevent the few who leave kitchens in a mess a way from here. Enjoyable stay.

We will go back to this hostel. The main attractions were the relaxed atmosphere and unique environment - real Father Ted stuff. Also, you didnt get the overcrowded feeling that you get in many hostels - beds v. comfy.
