My friend and I really liked the Pilgrim's Rest, it had a personal athmosphere and the food was lovely and our room was nice and clean. It is in a scenic area and we had a great time there so we'd definitely go back!

even though there was a bar;there was nowhere to sit except at the dining tables.the staff were sitting in front of the tv.No seperate place for visitors .I was led to believe dinner was cheaper than they charged.Isolated and quiet.Doors locked early.Expensive enough

Lovely B and B. Owners were very welcoming. Beautiful area -- not easy to find in the dark though.

Small, family run hotel (very friendly people) is situated in a beautiful countryside (hiking, fishing, riding etc.), peaceful, relaxing atmosphere (fireplace) and delicous homemade meals for a reasonable price. A very good place for singles, couples and families.

Very kind and helpful staff that made us feel special and welcome. Advice on what do see and do in the area turned out to be extremely useful.

After having a quick... more To whom it may concern, Unfortunately my experience with the pilgrims rest hotel was not a good one. The hotel room was descracefull!Upon arrival we were told in passing that the room we were been given was the last double room available and it was imediately obvious why. After having a quick look around the room both myself and my partner decided we would ask if there was an alternative. The room had a tiny ensuit no bath as descibed, there were damp stains on the ceiling the room smelled of must/dampness and clearly hadnt been dusted in a long time. The bed was pushed into the corner or this small roome dressed in mis-matched bed clothing. I approached the lady who initialy booked us in and asked if she could do anything she said she could give us another room but it would not be a double. As myself and my partner were on our second anniversary this wasnt realy the option we needed so we said if she didnt mind we would try to fing somewhere else. I obviously wasnt expecting to get my booking deposit back but i didnt intend on paying for a room that was well below a standard anybody would expect. The lady then asked for her husband also the proprietor of the hotel to deal with the situation wich was when the main problem arrose. His initial comment to me was how dare i run down his hotel and i had only been there 15 minutes. When i pointed out to him i had no problem with the hotel itself but i requested a diferant room and this wasnt available i thought it would be better to find alternative accomadation. He then proceeded to tell me about all the guests that stay with him on a regular basis and love the place on also what else was i expecting for the money that i was paying!! Firstly the money wasnt an issue i would have gladley paid 5 times the price, it was the location that encouraged me to book the hotel. Also the pictures on your website led me to believe that the room was very differant to what it actualy was.he them argued with me that there werent ant picures of the hotel on the website,i happened to have a prinout with me and showed him to which he explained this was obviously your mistake and it was of another hotel. Secondly in all my years as working as a front office manager in the hotel industry i have never been or heard of anybody been spoken to like this. Then to top it all off he turned around to me and said that at this point i wasnt going to appreciate his hotel or experience the atmosphere he was refering to and that i might as well leave as he wasnt going to offer me an alternative even if he had one and didnt recomend that i ever came back.I then told him that i would be following this up with TRAV.COM and he said one person trying to get a cheap weekend away writing a complaint letter wasnt going to make a differance. Obviosly i was quite upset by this and felt after driving 2.5hrs to lismore they could of at least recomended alternative accomadation. This was now 8.30pm and myself and my partner were left with no alternative but to drive back to dungarvin and try and find accomadation which of course was not available at such short notice. The evening ended with us booking into a travel lodge and going to bed at 11pm.This certainly wasnt the anniversary i had intended and feel the pilgrims rest had a huge part in ruining the evenig. Being in the hotel industry i recomend your websit regularly and certainly would not do so in the future .Although you are not directly responsable for this ruinned weekend i wouldnt like to think thease are the type of standards you would expect from your hotel recomendations. I would actualy appreciate some feedback on this issue as i feel this is quite a serious complaint. Please contact me at alicia.doyle@gmail.com/0877859320.close

A delightful place to stay, a real treasure. However, a bit tricky to find, but once there, well worth the effort.

This place is a little out of the way, but definitely worth it! Keep in mind, you need a car to get to it, but it is WONDERFUL!! I'm studying abroad and it was nice to get a resonably priced homecooked meal not to mention resonably priced room! I would DEFINITELY go back!
