Interlaken, I can see why everyone goes there, but also why they come back broke. It\'s a great place to start your active getaway for snowboarding, hiking, skydiving, and the like, but you\'ll pay dearly. The prices in Interlaken, as they are in most of the Alps, are outrageous. Food is expensive, trains are shocking, and 1 day on the mountain will put you back almost 200sf. However i did enjoy my time there, and would recommend it as a great starting point- just make sure you have some back up cash!

Interlaken is definitely tourist-oriented, but if you don\'t mind souvenir shops, this town is amazing. Everything in the mountains is easily accessible by train, and the views of the city itself are phenomenal. The people were great and the food was outstanding!

Go on as many excursions as possible. In the group that I went with, some of the girls went canyon jumping and absolutely loved it. I went to \"The Top of Europe\" in the Alps and once you get up there it is the most magnificent view I have ever seen before, especially if you love mountains. If you do go the \"The Top of Europe\" be aware that the first 2 trains leaving in the morning offer a discounted price, and an additional discount is given if you are using the EuRail passes. The best thing that we did there was skydiving. Yes, it is a little more expensive than the rest of the adventures offered, but it was amazing. I would recommend that everyone does it once in their lifetime, but where better than by the Alps and lakes present in Interlaken? The people at the skydiving place were very nice as well, they made sure that you were comfortable and made sure that everyone enjoyed their flight. There is not one person that did it while there that regretted it- especially since it was only about $300. I would also recommend getting the picture package that is offerred by the company. I did not personally do it, but one of the other individuals I was with did, and the pictures turned out very nice. Her pictures actually also included pictures of all of us jumping out of the plane and landing (if you want to do this, make sure the person getting the pictures jumps last). Overall, I would recommend going here. It is definitely a place for the adventerous, but even if skydiving is not for you, you could still go just for the views.

Interlaken is a gorgeous city in the foothills of the Swiss Alps. While its a smallish town and quiet enough, its so picturesque and the air is so clean and the scenery is so breathtaking that you really feel that you are going through a detox walking around. Interlaken is the outdoor and adventure capital of Europe. Skydiving, Skiing in winter and then hillwalking, mountain biking and water sports take over in summer. Its a very clean city, there's not the greatest selection of places to eat out or shop but as a place to go and expereience the great outdoors its the best

This is definitely one of the most scenic places I have ever been. Totally fell head over feels for this place. Jungfrau is a must to visit. Unfortunately, I went during the off peak season and a few attractions were closed. Nevertheless, I was knocked off my socks.

Interlaken is really cute. Surounded by tourist and souvieneer shops in the heart of the town, but the mountains aroudn you definately make up for it! Perfect place to start your venture into the mountain region. Coops supermarket near the train station is really well stocked.

Let me just say that we were in Interlaken over Christmas vacation and many restaurants and businesses were closed. However, I've been before in October and the city has everything; its magical!!!

I think the title summed it up. Very pretty, but overpriced. No nightlife to speak of. You are better off staying in grimwald or one of the other towns higher up in the mountains. They are more peaceful and a bit more authentic.

It is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. It has a lot of extreme sports to keep you busy- paragliding, hiking, etc. A great city to just relax in as well. The downtown shopping area is pretty touristy. The restaurants are good but pricey. Switzerland is expensive in general! I hope to go back to Interlaken one day!

Interlaken is really expensive but you´ll have a great time, especially if you take advantage of all the things they have to do there. It is so gorgeous and such a nice break from all the European cities. Go there!

if you dont really want to spend money. this aint really the place to go.. its really expensive anyways.. and you can get around just hiking.. but its so much more fun doing all the extreme sports.. handgliding.. paragliding.. bungee jump.. canyon swing.. canyoning.. skydiving.. make it a first stop so that you can break the bank right away.. lots of fun though..

I've been here before so I know people love it for the "partying." However, if that's all you're looking for, make sure you don't go during the off-season because less people are there (and most shops on the mountains are closed until ski season begins). Amazing place to visit regardless. The mountains are fantastic. Great for photos too.

Interlarken was a suprise to my gf and I while travelling through europe. The scenery is amazing with a kodak moment at every corner. The swiss people were soo nice and really looked after us well, nothing was too much trouble here. We only stayed here for one night and it was just not enough, the amount of sights and activities that it offers is amazing, best to stay 3 or 4 nights, but expect prices to be a little more expensive as although it relates to the euro like the australian and canadian dollars it is spent alot quicer (about 30-40% more). Hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

went during december..brrrr, tons of activities for the snow though. the bar there was handy for meeting people, the room lockout was a nuisance, and for a lock out that long i would espect something a lot more clean, but besides that it was worth the money, i wouldnt mide throwing in a few more euro for better breakfast though

The scenery is just gorgeous. Walking in the streets is so relaxing, what with snowcapped mountains and beautiful weather. The town is not very big, can be explored in a day, so do plan other activities (like going up the Jungfraujoch) for other days.

Interlaken is the place to go for a day or two of being daring... the brochure they handed me had everything from skydiving, paragliding, ice-climbing, canyoning, and much more. It is truly a great place for young adventurous folk.

Wonderful for a weekend of outdoor activities...however because it is such a tourist trap, there isn't as much culture here...restaurants are a bit pricey and transportation between the smaller cities definitely adds up. However, well worth the visit, some of the most gorgeous sights ever of the Alps. Trying sledging/sledding if skiing isn't your thing....be ready to hike a looong way up, though, but it's so worth it!

So much to do in a little amount of time. Things are a bit pricey, but def. worth it. If you head out of town you can find food for cheaper, but a supermarket held us over just fine. I will def. come back. The weather was marvelous!

walters was verz cozy and clean. the price was very good. i would reccomend his breakfast...it is by far and i mean by far the least expensive meal you will eat in interlaken and he gives you all the left overs. would stay there again.

the description was not the same as on the internet, although i went in the low season because it was winter. the disco is more of a local hangout but the baulmers one, another hostel across the street, is pretty fun with more americans and what not. THE BREAKFAST IS BREAD AND BUTTER AND COFFEE OR TEA. i had a good time there but i might consider staying somewhere else and going there to hang out at night. i stayed at walters bed and breakfast and i liked that better and would stay there first because he cooks you a huge breakfast for really really cheap and gives you all the leftovers for lunch.

Interlaken is a great place for extreme sports and for skiing. It was a lot of fun and it was very beautiful. The only thing if it's a foggy/rainy/snowy weekend, one can't really enjoy the beauty of the mountains and lakes surrounding it... but over all its great!!

Let me start of by saying that we had the most fantastic trip in a very pretty place, that was warm and comfortable and would love to go back there sometime. Deniz the hostess was extremely helpful and nice and she became quite good friends with the girls by the end of this visit. The Positives: Ours was an absolutely fantastic trip. It had the prettiest sights to wake up to. Deniz, the manager, was extremely helpful. She gave us a ride into town a couple of times. She suggested things for us to do in the area and even took us to the local shops, waited while we rented our gear and dropped us off at the station. She helped us out with food etc. when we had run out and also entertained us with funny stories from her experiences. The room itself was very warm and comfortable. We had the 4 bed dorm to ourselves and we could just lock the room and go but I don\'t think it would have been a problem otherwise either. The place is very safe. The wireless internet works pretty well, even from the rooms but is best in the breakfast area. The rooms were very clean and the sheets washed and well kept. The bathrooms were always clean as well. The somewhat negative: Iseltwald is an extremely pretty village but it takes a 30 minute very scenic bus ride from Interlaken to get here, This ride can be expensive if you don\'t have a swiss pass or something. Also, the last bus is at 8:06 from Iseltwald. Taxi rides from Interlaken cost CHF 50 or about in the night. This isn\'t such a big deal because the mountains close down at aroun 6 anyway and you will need to make your way back at that time.

The people there were so welcoming and friendly. Party scene was a blast. Everyone in the extreme activities knew what they were doing and made it lots of fun. I would recommend to anyone and everyone.
