It was a nice location but shame about the bed bugs, and no real chill out space to speak of. Could do with a tv room or something like it.

this hostel was not good! the ``lockers`` were the size of a kids shoe box and you had to have your own lock, the sheets were dirty, with raggy blankets. There was loud music at night coming from the bar, even one night at 3 in the morning. Attracts rude guests. I returned home from dinner one evening (around 10.45 pm) to find I had been locked out with no warning of such a curfew. As this place is surrounded by water and the main building far away from the gate, i had to climb a very high fence in the pouring rain to gain access.... more Attracts rude guests. This was only one of a number of unfortunate incidents during my stay here. If I were to return to Ilha Grande I would definitately stay elswhere.close

The hostel is beautiful and breakfast are great but rooms are very small and humid. Showers have not very good face, you should work on that. Saludos!

The location and the facilities of the hostel were fantastic, but the staffa really didn´t care much about helping in any extra way, and the atmosphere of the place was really dull. May be better for couples though.

You can´t really beat the view, however the hostel is a bit of treck down the beach. Major complaint was lack of adequate lighting between bar and rooms and loose wiring in one of the rooms(8)which shocked us twice. That said the staff tried and were friendly enough plus it has good links with...

this hostel is great, 5 steps from the sea. the staff are just as good and the breakfast was the best yet. if you stay, say hello to fred the owner. try and take freds speed boat to and from the island, it was alot of fun.

Don't read any more reviews on other hostels, the Aquario is in a stunning location at the end of the main beach. It has gorgeous quite beaches right behind it. When arrived the staff were completely disorganised. I HAD reservation and wasnt able to check into my room until 5pm as they didnt have a clue what was happening. The location is great. Right on the ocean with beach on either side. We liked it so much we are going to stay for another 5 days. The dorm rooms are a little small, but you never need to be in your room except to sleep... there is lots of stuff to do.

Nice locatoin although a bit out of 'town'. Nice couple room in main block overlooking the sea (although could be a little noisy) Breakfast disappointing compared to others. Good place to meet other travellers.

The location for this hostel is just unbelievable - right on the sea - going to sleep with the sound of waves crashing - cant beat that! A further great service is the boat trips right from the dock beside where you are having your breakfast! If I was heading back to Ihla Grande I would definitly stay here again.close

Beautiful hostel in a stunning location. A little dry on friendliness and the sociabiality of the people staying there. But that really does not have a lot to do with the hostel. They organise a boat and communal dinners and the rooms are nice and clean. Good reccomendation for here.

When we arrived they didnt seem to know we had booked online with hostelworld - our deposit wasnt taken into account when we went to pay - maybe the language barrier had something to do with it????

The pousada was very relaxed and in a perfect location. Staff were friendly, and so were the people staying there. The only thing that would help would be if they spoke more English, but i managed ok with some Spanish!

It was great to wake up with the sea before us. To top it off, we could also use the kayaks and boats - free !!! Not to mention the natural pool and the breathtaking view of the bay. Hands down one of the best places I've stayed at.

When I addressed this with the manager I was told that they had 3 bed dorms previously and that was no longer the case - That I had to pick it up with hostel world, which to be frank quite pissed me off. Having placed a deposit for 10 days I felt we were held at the mercy of the hostel owner as it was a busy weekend and all other hostels and pousdas were full up so we had to agree to staying in a four bed and not the three as originally booked.close

Location, Location, Location. Great spot on the water. A bit hard to keep the sand out, but thats life on the beach. Good place to just chill. Boat tours run from the front of Hostel every day, great fun.

My booking was completely messed up. We arrived to find out that the room that was confirmed to us was no longer available because another guest wanted to stay longer. The lady who showed us our room was very brash. The owner has subsequently appologised for the mess up but we did not stay there...
