the location is really good but found it difficult to find the place. The staff are really unhelpfull and its a rubbish place if hoping to meet other travellers.

This was the worst hostel I have ever stayed in and by far the worst on I have been in Hong Kong.

Good rooms and location. The place needs a common area for meeting other guests and the internet acess should be 24 hr instead of until 23.00. Otherwise a good cheap place

We had a hard time locating the hostel. We are already in the area but there was no sign outside, the map in the internet is not updated. Thanks

Functional, clean and cheap. Does the basics without much else. It is cramped, but it is Hong Kong. Accomadation here is expensive, so you can't really quibble. I would recommend it for travellers on a budget.

Although being operated illegally, we did not notice any disadvantage (except the doorman not opening the door for us). We were lucky with our rooms (which were clean and relatively spacious) and got an upgrade because we had a lot of luggage.

Great location- smack in the middle of Causeway and clean ,neat rooms. Good value for the location but not so good for meeting other travellers.

Shower facilities are not very good and ensuite rooms consist of shower head over the sink so not very practical. Laundry service is expensive. Location ideal, supermarket across the road. Sam is helpful on what to see and how to get there.

Very standard for a room in asia. Rooms cleaner and bigger than anything you will find in kowloon. Like all hostels in Hong Kong it is more like a low end hotel. Nothing special but in a good location. If you want to stay at a nice place pay $100+ and stay at a hotel.

small room, but value for money. We stayed only one night as last stop before flying home. We slept in a neigboring appartment, owned by an old lady. Quite interesting.

Good place to stay in Hong Kong, everywhere is small. 3 person dorm room had air con and bathroom was fine, would definitely recommend. Much nicer than staying in Kowloon

I should have known because everytime I had a question and I called the hostel directly (from Australia), no one picked up the phone. Email replies were often late as I often had to wait 2-3 days before a reply, and even then the manager (I'm assuming), Peter, did not respond to all the questions, which led to me writing back and having to wait an extra few days. I paid my reservation in full, and I was promised to have first priority in choosing my rooms. However, when I got to my room, it was small with a rock hard bed, my fiancee and I could barely move around with the two of us in there; he could not even FIT in the bathroom because it was a toilet and shower in one and no bigger than the size of a small closet! I also got flea bites all over my legs at night when I slept (don't think the rock hard mattress was very sanitary) and even though there was a maid who went in everyday, she only put in a new rubbish bag in the bin, and folded up the blanket. Any other messes were not even taken care of - not that we were messy but trust me I knew that nothing else was cleaned, as was promised. I didn't think I needed to pay to have someone fold up my blanket, thank you VERY much. To top it off, the place is not even legally run; the security guard refused to help me find the reception because he couldn't answer to any questions regarding the illegal business. Oh, and if you're a non-smoker, like me, you would NOT appreciate the freedom of other hostel guests SMOKING IN THE HALLS DIRECTLY OUTSIDE YOUR ROOM. Due to the pouring rain in the typhoon season, the selfish guests decided to smoke up a storm in the small narrow hallway right outside my room, with no one to stop them. In short, if you're looking to save money on accommodation, don't go to Wang Fat! You're probably better off living in a dumpster.close

A very functional place to stay - we wanted to sleep, and it got the job done. Rather more like a fairly crummy hotel than a hostel - there were no problems with the room, but at the same time it had no communal area, and felt like we didn't meet any other backpackers. Cheap and functional, but...

Nice location. Causeway Bay is also a shopping district. More expensive compared with King Wah Hostel in Mongkok but the room is bigger. This is a very good option if your trip is more concentrated at the Hong Kong Island side rather than in Kowloon side. Final verdict: Recommendable.

The room I booked, 3 person dorm room with a public bathroom, wasn't available so I was given a basically free upgrade, private two-person room with a private bathroom. Very happy about that. Free internet, no common room though, and expensive laundry service... helpful with directions...

I've stayed at this hostel many times...always been happy... Now that they have joined with other hostels I would recommend staying away from floor 6....paper thin walls... Was able to catch a few hours of Z's when I wasn't enthralled with the conversation next door...

Wang Fat, or Hong Kong as some signs say, Hostel is a great place to stay in HK. Sam, who works there, was very helpful and friendly. It's in a great location and is definitely a place I would stay at again. If surpassed all expectations I had. Higly recommended!
