Compared to other Japanese cities, Hiroshima feel quite small and is mostly walkable.
the castle is a let-down though. |

Great city, lots to do and see, if the weather sucks there are lots of shops, restaurants and coffee shops to explore and relax in. If you want to try hiroshima style okonomiyaki, I recommend Rokutsuboya (really small, great food and an English menu). |

The history to Hiroshima is good to know, but it can be done in half a day. |

Unlike Tokyo or Osaka, Hiroshima is much smaller in size but there is still a lot to see and do. Its very easy to walk around or take the train. The people are also very polite, something hard to find in Tokyo or Osaka. |

Hiroshima is a great mix of things. First you have the peace park and museum then you have Miyajima a great island filled with traditional stuff. The shopping and nightlife is great and most of that stuff is all in one area. |

Great place - very interesting given the difficult modern history - people were so friendly and it's easy to get around (by walking) - the Peace Park and the Dome are must see's and very moving. |

Great place, cheap Japanese food and plenty of sights. |

Hiroshima is just such a great city. It's picturesque, with the mountains in the background and the rivers running through it, it's modern and happening and very welcoming to foreigners. I think this is because of, rather then despite, what it's most famous for. You have to vist the heart wrenching Atomic Bomb memorials, but when you come out you can't help but be struck by the positive, lively aspect of the city. Hiroshima is a monument to the strength of the human spirit. |

NO shortage of places to eat in Hiroshima. The Peace Memorial park and museum was reallyu touching and does its job of educating the public about promoting peace. We enjoyed it, also Miyajima was beautiful- especially at sunset! |

weather was bad because of the rainy season and heat from a typical July (from what I was told) |

Really liked the city - there's more too it than the bomb dome and the museum. Had 3 cool nighs out, locals were very friendly, just a cool place to visit it your outgoing and open-minded! |

I went to Hiroshima by myself and didn't really know what to expect, but I had a great time. There was so much to see -- museums, parks, shops, etc. Also, I had no problem meeting people even when I went to dinner and out for a drink by myself -- the city was very friendly and everyone was very helpful. I would definitely recommend going to Hiroshima and also taking a side trip to Miyajima -- so necessary and beautiful! |

Hiroshima is a really mellow city - quite european in appearance with wide boulevards and lots of trees. If you are there for more than 2 days (and therefore have done the requisite trip to the peace museum and Miya-Jima) walk up to the Peace Pagoda atop the hills behind the Station. You walk up through 100 Torii gates passing lots of small shinto shrines. the view of the Inland Sea from the top is excellent and you will also see one of the most vertiginous graveyards. If you are there around Christmas, walk down the Peace Boulevard at night to see their light sculptures. |

Pretty cool to check out the museum about the bombing in 1946. Very sad but worthwhile. |

Not much to really say.... If you're going to Hiroshima, all you need is about 2 full days... There isn't much to see / do other than the obvious...! |

You should go to Hiroshima, but don't need to spend too long. |

Being an American in Hiroshima, I expected to get some disapproving looks, but the attitude in Peace Park is all about learning from the past and forgiving eachother. The monuments are beautiful and diverse. Make sure to look closely at the bright colors around the monuments. Thousands of paper cranes hang in strands or are pieced together to make pictures. |

There isn't a whole lot to do in Hiroshima, but it is a nice city to walk about in, with lots of little restaurants and bars. |

A must - the Hiroshima Peace Park MUSEUM. It transforms Hiroshima's atomic bomb past into today's reality - we should not have atomic weapons on this earth. |

Very much recommend it, not a party city but one to learn more about the history |

Hiroshima's a great place. Stayed only one day and it felt really short. Next time atleast a weekend or perhaps a week. Great shopping in the center, good museums, and really close access to both Kyuushu and Kansai regions. |

I had and excellent time in Hiroshima. I thought the peace memorial museum was spectacular. I did find some of the food a bit over priced, but with it begin such as tourist destination that doesnt suprise me. |

I only spent a day in Hiroshima, so I don`t think I got the chance to truly experience all the city has to offer, but I did get a free guided tour around the Peace Park and heard really interesting stories from a survivor of the atomic bombing! The Peace Memorial Museum was so interesting - I spent about 2 and a half hours in there! It`s also very easy to get around because of the street cars. I definitely want to go back to Hiroshima and also visit Miyajima Island... maybe next year! |

Very nice place to visit. Spend a full afternoon in the peace museum and then spread the word that war and nukes must stop.
Miyajima is a great day trip - no need to stay there unless you have some extra cash to part with - ferries run till 9PM (long after there is anything left to do on the island). |

This is one of the best japanese cities I have visited! I love the vast amount of entertainment options, from temples, shrines, clubs, bars, sightseeing, restaurants, and much more. Using city tramway, it is very easy to get around. |

I was only there 2 days but I managed to pack quite a bit in. I very much recommend going to the Miyajima island as it's truly beautiful. However, beware the dear - they *will* want to eat any food you may have, even if they have to nip at you to get it hahaha! Also, save a day for Miyajima as there's a lot of walking around to do. If it's winter make sure you take a scarf and gloves as it's freezing and there's nowhere to really buy anything decent like that on the Island. I also highly recommend going to the Atom bomb site and museum. It's a bit depressing but you really get a feel for what actually happened and the aftermath. Perhaps do the museum first then do the Island so that it cheers you up :o) |

This city and its history are worldwide famous but the bomb museum is a must see, something you won\'t forget and that won\'t leave you untouched. Apart from that the city is alive with many shops and restaurant and the nearby Miya Jima island is the perfect spot for a day trip among deers and forests. |
