The Peace Memorial Museum was so interesting - I spent about 2 and a half hours in there! It`s also very easy to get around because of the street cars. I definitely want to go back to Hiroshima and also visit Miyajima Island... maybe next year!close

However, beware the dear - they *will* want to eat any food you may have, even if they have to nip at you to get it hahaha! Also, save a day for Miyajima as there's a lot of walking around to do. If it's winter make sure you take a scarf and gloves as it's freezing and there's nowhere to really buy anything decent like that on the Island. I also highly recommend going to the Atom bomb site and museum. It's a bit depressing but you really get a feel for what actually happened and the aftermath. Perhaps do the museum first then do the Island so that it cheers you up :o)close

It's picturesque, with the mountains in the background and the rivers running through it, it's modern and happening and very welcoming to foreigners. I think this is because of, rather then despite, what it's most famous for. You have to vist the heart wrenching Atomic Bomb memorials, but when you come out you can't help but be struck by the positive, lively aspect of the city. Hiroshima is a monument to the strength of the human spirit.close

Top Rated Hiroshima Places to Stay

  1. Backpackers Hostel K's House Hiroshima 90%

I liked the K's house in Kyoto so I wanted to check this one out too. It's got the same kind of set up, very clean, very new and a friendly and helpful staff. This one is much smaller though than the Kyoto one, and lacks the atmosphere that made K's house so much fun (no bar, small common area)....

This is my first 100 % review. This was the perfect place to stay. The hostel was only 2 weeks old, so everything was so clean and nice. The beds had big lockers where you can put your backpack in plus extra stuff and the manager is amazing, thanks Mayumi! She also speaks Italian so for Italian...
