Hida Gassho-en 93%
The best place we stayed in Japan. Amazing location, its a beautiful Ryokan set in the Hida No Santo Folk Village. The hosts are lovely, will pick you up from the station if you arrange it with them. A nice walk into town. Visit during Autumn as the gardens are beautiful. A great place to stay if...

Ryokan Say-Liu (Seiryu) 90%
Very traditional, clean and nice ryokan... and not so expensive... very nice experience. Arrive early and wake up early, or you will miss everything (bath and breakfast)....

9Apart from the simple bathroom, which was clean, we really enjoyed our stay at this tradiotional ryokan.

Minshuku Iwatakan 88%
We had a very nice stay at Minshuki Iwatakan. The room was very clean and the owners were perfect hosts. We were picked up and brought back to the stations. There were bycicles to use free of charge. The private onsen was great. Perfect.

2It is all very-very japanese style. Every thing is marvellous. When go out we were very displeased!! The surround place is much interesting, old style and originally. Takyama is worth visiting.

Oyado Iguchi 79%
You probably don't go to a little village in the mountains to have a massive party, so don't go expecting too many wild times here. However, staff are very obliging and helpful, and they cook you a great breakfast if you ask for one. HIGHLY recommended!

This is a very homely place to stay - relaxed and cosy, with very clean rooms. Showers are communal. Good location and very friendly staff.

2We stayed one night in this basic traditional Japanese style little Minshuku. Located near a busy road, 10 min to the railway station, 20-25 minutes walk to the old town alleys - a bit far away but it was ok. The staff was efficient: the morning cleaning activities started early, as in the...
