We had a room with a "window". it was a window into the inside of the building and it had a washing machine in front of it. The aircon in our room blew cigarette smoke into the room. At one stage I saw a mouse outside the room. The restaurant was up a little stairs that was like a ladder. not safe and the restaurant was not clean. we heard mice or something scratching around when we were up there using the internet. The staff were not helpful. They didnt collect us at the airport as arranged. They said that their driver was sick when I rang to see where they were. The main guy at the desk hassled us and hassled us about trips. When would we book etc. we didnt book with them and we checked out the next day. It was an awful place! There are much better places in Hanoi. This place is a rip off. We have stayed in $8 a night rooms that were much better and much cleaner. We are sure 100% all the GOOD REVIEWS WERE WRITTEN BY THEMSELVES. Keep way from this fraud hotel at any price.close

First drawn by the reviews on this site, I found myself at their website which was easy to navigate through, complete with all the information on I needed. The hotel is located at the heart of the Old Quarter but is a comfortable walking distance from everything you need to see -- the Water Puppet Theatre, Lake of the Restored Sword, etc. I booked everything online and the Manager patiently answered the million and one questions I sent him. The up front and personal service was much better than expected. All staff were very kind, very accomodating and helpful -- they always go the extra mile, from fixing do-it-your-own-tours and even purchasing water puppet tickets for busy guests. ocaen stars Hotel...felt like I had walked into a home. Do visit!close

We were met as arranged at Hanoi Airport and installed in a quiet room as requested on the fifth floor. The relative peace was disturbed . This was obviously outside the control of the Hotel. The room was very good bearing in mind the relative cost and all of the staff were courteous and most pleasant, particularly the two receptionists. Our trip to Halong Bay arranged through Mr Vu khai proved to be very enjoyable. We would both choose to stay at this Hotel if visiting Hanoi in the future.close

All we wanted was a place to lay our head and shower, and Ocean Stars Hotel satisfied those requirements and more. Staff were very helpful right from the beginning. They accomodated our late check-in, lugged our excessive amount of luggage, and helped out with some directions to a nearby restaurant (one of the porters got into a heated argument with a motorbike driver because he was trying to convince us we needed to hire him because the restaurant was too far, when it was really just a couple of blocks down the street). Our room was on the 6th floor, and it faced away from the street. I had been in Vietnam and Cambodia already for the past three months, so I was used to any street noise, and it did not seem excessive compared to other places I had stayed. The room was very comfortable and clean, and it was more than adequate for our needs. Breakfast in the morning was fairly standard for the region, but their top floor restaurant offers some very nice views of the Hanoi cityscape. What really makes this hotel outstanding is its managing director. He is a very friendly man who is absolutely committed to providing his guests with the best possible experience. His passion obviously filters down to the rest of the staff, and they all act with the utmost professionalism. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a mid-level price hotel in Hanoi. I have no doubt that others would have the same experience.close

The staff are super friendly and are happy to help out with anything from room service to advise on places to eat and places visit. The Hotel is situated right in the heart of the old quarter with most attraction within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel also offers a large amount of tours, which they can book for you at a resonable price. We would also reccommend the hotel to anyone travelling to vietnam for the first time as there pick up service from the airport, makes getting to the hotel a breeze. The Ocean Stars Hotel Hotel is a must stay when travelling to Hanoiclose

The location is very convenient as well. We used Ocean Stars as a base for the whole stay of our group in Vietnam. This meant that we had them arrange several of our trips and gave us rates that were among the best, held our luggage when we needed to, picked us up at the airport and drived us there and so forth. We were travelling with a high school group and staying there made it really easier for us. They also had free internet.,free breakfastclose

Inexpensive, clean mini-hotel in old Hanoi. Includes full breakfast, ac/fridge/tv/free internet, very helpful staff. Pricier rooms have window. Very walkable to everything in the old section. HOtel is expanding and putting in elevator, so a bit noisy in daytime. A bit pushy with the tours.

AWESOME! I stayed in a couple of other hotels in the city, but Ocean Stars is the best in Hanoi! They have beautiful rooms and beds, plus a very helpful staff and lots of accurate information (unlike some other hotels). I highly recommend Ocean Stars!!!
