Colonial ruins, immaculate churchs, cobblestone streets, quaint hotels and many great restaurants. |

A great place to stay, if flying to Guatemala, just get first bus out of town to Antigua, we only had 2 days there, could have stayed much longer. Visit to Pacayo Volcano is a must (about 90 mins away) Lake Atitlan can also be done in a day trip, but would only leave about 3-4 hours at lake. Visit Black Cat bar too, and have Mojito's. Wish I was back there now and not in San Jose. |

Going to Antigua was like going back in time. It is a beautiful city with beautiful cobbled stoned streets and friendly people. The only problem is that there are so many tourists it might take away from your full on experience of the local people and culture. |

I liked Antigua becuase it is a good home base to go to other places. So when you get to Guatemala, head straight to Antigua and plan your travels from there. Have an awesome trip. |

Antigua is really charming, althought I haven't been to too many other guatemalan cities yet it is a great first impression after the chaos of Guatemala city. Perfect to chill out after you arrive, it feels safe and the people are friendly. Happy Travels! |

Antigua was a cool place to stay for a couple days, and I definitely could've stayed longer. It's beautful, with it's colonial architecture and ginormous volcanoes surrounding the city. If you visit, you've got to do the escorted walk to the cross. They're at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM from the tourist police office, and you've also got to do an excursion to Volcan Pacaya. |

As far as Guatemala goes, this is another world! A good base away from Guatemala cuty that shoudl be avoided, but is incredibly expensive in Guate standards! Lots to see and do, and a good tour company can take all the pain out of travelling about. I recommend the one from the Yellow House Hostel |

Irma (the lady owner) is so friendly & helpful. The hotel is pretty close to the Parque Central, but not too close to loud clubs, so it\'s very quiet at night. Also, the street which this street is on is very well lit (as opposed to some of the streets in Antigua), so you\'d probably feel safe also. |
