Hogar Carmelita is a three floor colonial guest house, which has been running for eight years. Near Guanajuato town center 'Hogar de Carmelita' will be your 'home away from home!' We have the flexibility to adapt our rooms to your needs, please contact us at the phone 01(473)7310268. The house provides private rooms with shared bathroom (one bathroom every two rooms), self catering facilities or home made meals for more than reasonable prices and laundry service for 45 MXN. Two of the rooms have a roof terrace to relax and chill out watching the sunset. Guanajuato is a city of incredible charm, as is almost immediately obvious on entering it by way of its subterranean main street. The street follows the original course of the Guanajuato River, running beneath the city for almost 3 kilometers. To navigate the city, you have to go on foot. It is criss-crossed by hundreds of callejones (alleyways), the most famous of which is, undoubtedly, Callejón del Beso (Alley of the Kiss). The local romantic legend has it that this callejón is so narrow that lovers, each standing on a balcony on either side of the alley, can reach across the alley and exchange a kiss! The alleyway is also part of the route of the popular traditional callejoneadas of Guanajuato - when student choral groups stroll the alleyways of Guanajuato at night, strumming their guitars and serenading the local populace.

Great location not far from the center of the city. Carmen was wonderful and so helpful and hospitable. One of the best places I've stayed!

The place is nice and the owner very helpful. The place is quiet and 25 or 30 minutos walking to the downtown or you can take the bus just in front of the house. If you are looking for fun this is the wrong place, if you are looking for tranquility, of course, this is the right place.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Carmen (the owner) took good care of us and provided excellent Mexican breakfasts. She even showed us around Guanajuato. Although it is situated a little out of the city center, we would highly recommend it!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed our time. Carmen was a great host - friendly and very welcoming, the room was very clean and comfortable and the place was just a short stroll from the centre. We travelled for a month in Mexico and this was one of our favourite places...

My wife and I had a great experience at the Carmelita hostel! We definitely would recommend it to other people. The room was very clean, the owner extremely warm and friendly, and only a short and beautiful stroll to get to the main historic downtown.

The first breakfast is on the house as a welcome gesture and you basically don't need to eat for the rest of the day. We were also invited to a birthday party where Carmen's brother serenades the guests with his musical skills. The house is charming, quiet and a little out of the center but it's only a 15 minute walk and it's very safe. You can also catch a city bus right outside her door. There's shops around as well and a great restaurant if you don't feel like going far.close

The rooms have dressers...closets,etc. The owner, Carmen, will take you in as a mother would. This is like staying with family; we were only here for two nights and wish we could stay a week. Even better for us that it was not in the city center, about a 15 minute walk which was great. There is a nice park and lake just up the road as well which you would never see otherwise. Hostels in Mexico are a real crap shoot, most are seedy and noisy. This is a sure bet!!!!! You will leave feeling guilty that you paid such a reasonable rate. Book this place! PS. Carmen¨'s brother is a great singer and guitar player as well!close
