Lovely city in the north of Germany. Th weather is very good in the summer and it can be freezing in the winter. It is not so expensive to eat out and there lots of places where you can have a drink or two. I would recommend to do a harbour cruise, visit the Hamburger Dom (fun fair), go to the Museum of History or go to see a Musical. In the winter you can go ice skating in Planten un Blomen (europe's biggest outdoor skate rank). Also don't forget the lovely german christmas markets! There is also great shopping in Hamburg, just walk up Mönckebergstrasse and the Jungfernstieg (the city's most knows shopping lanes). If you are able to get up early you may also visit the Fismarket, which is open very early on Sunday mornings (6am). |

Lobbed in as we would have had tickets for the WC quarter final vs Ukraine but the diving she-men cheats from Italy had stolen our spot. Lovely German people and an interesting city. A day was enough though. |

Hamburg was a really great city.
Only negative was the bus tour, which was given in 90% German and 10% english. I missed a lot of the true information about the city |

I guess what would you expect from an oversized shipping port....... |

Hamburg is worth visiting. Spend around 4 days in hamburg to see the most interesting places. Go see the harbour and be sure that you don't miss Speicherstadt where the ships used to unload their cargo.
Find some cosy terrace on a square in a side street of the Reeperbahn and go to Grose Freiheit for some bars and clubs. |

In my point of view Hamburg is a very imposing city with good conditions for living and developed system of public transport which can be easily understood and used by foreigners. |

Hamburg was a cute town. there were a lot of free things to do so that was a plus for us. The U-bahn is honor system. |

Amburgo is one city a lot, a lot animated and lively. Decidedly various from the other cities of Germany that has visited. The presence of the port, integrating part of the city life, renders it very fascinating and only. The quarter to red lights (St Pauli), on the Reeperbahn (likeable but good for tourists) is only but the part alive of the city and ideal in order to spend the night, if he is young, with premises in order to dance and other. Splendid storees to Amburgo, in beautiful roads, with decidedly approachable prices. Not to lose the turn for the crossed historical center from the channels that of it conformation gives one a lot fascinating, the view from above from the bell tower of the church of S.Michaelis, the long turn lungomare with the new old port and that (immense and futuristic one) with the relative Am Sandtrokai, splendid part of the city between ancient and the modern one. Many other quarter particular in turn and the outskirtses make of amusing and more interesting Hamburg the German city that has never visited. |

The city has lots to offer but needs to cater for tourists from outside Germany. There was little or no effort in most places to cater for english speaking tourists, however dont let this deter you as you can get by. |

Hamburg has something for everyone. There always seems to be a festival or music event. |

Hamburg is not charming since it was totally bombed out during ww2. But a fine place to party without drugs. |

(though there are one or two McD's).
Theres more to do than the guides I'd seen suggested (which just seem to mention redlight district....). Spent an enjoyable few days exploring and fully using the excellent transport system. There are even sandy beaches on the Elbe, just a short ferry trip away! |

The hotel is in an excellent location for the city centre and very easy to find.
My only negative comments are that, although I stated I'd arrive at 11am, when I arrived I was told I wouldnt get into the room til 4pm, with a bit of haggling I got this reduced to 2pm, even so, I still had to leave my luggage in the reception for 12 hours as I didnt want to waste the only full day I had in hamburg waiting for my room, the only other thing was that it was lucky i am able bodied, as my room was at the top of the building 5 floors up and there was no lift, so not ideal for disabled or people who have difficulty climbing stairs other than that the accomodation was in my opinion very good, clean and friendly. |

Christmas markets were excellent! Loads to see and do and the city is very easy to navigate around. Public transport is excellent too. It was difficult to find bars at fist in the centre but they are all just outside of the centre in st.pauli which is only a few minutes on the underground train |

Hamburg is a real mixture, beautiful architecture, streets etc and then a real party area and red light district (akin to Amsterdam). |

We were there for New Years Eve. Was a great place to get pissed and have a laugh with the lads! Didn't do much sightseeing to be honest... |

Hamburg is a new city that less to offer to a person looking for typical streets. But if you are looking for party, Reeperbahn is the maximum in night live I have ever seen in much time. Perfect to go with your friends and have a crazy saturday night. It is full of bars and discos, and sexual attractions (if you are looking for it). |

Not a bad city. While not my favorite city in Europe, definitely not my least favorite. |

City was the greyest I have ever been too. Most unphotogenic too!
Not much to do except party and well party I guess.
I wouldn\'t return for the next few years! |

Basically the city has quite impressive scenery, but the weather condition in winter is far from agreeable, though. |
|

 |
If you go stay near the reeperbahn this is the better part of the city more and lively. |

boring city. the most interesting event was the fishmarket during my stay. If you are going to hamburg just because you wonder, think twice and you better change your mind. Anyway its just a subjectice view. Choice is yours |

My visit to Hamburg was a stop over before a flight, but it was an interesting city with a huge red light district, but was pretty dead when I went. |

Hamburg is the second biggest city but can surprise the traveler with its beauty. Although there are not many famous landmarks, scenery spots can be found everywhere if historic buildings, idyllic parks and public spaces, modern architecture, cultural festivals or exciting clubs and night venues.
The Town Hall (Rathaus) with golden frames, marble steps and leathered doors is a must to see from the inside. The St. Michaelis (Michel) church is as well double as beautiful from the inside as from the exterior. The harbour has many interesting spots such as the historic storage houses (Speicherstadt), the modern developments of the Hafen-City, huge ships or beautifully located restaurants among the piers.
Hamburg is best to visit with friends as the renowned mile-long red light and clubbing district is one of the major attractions. Families will feel welcomed with many nice natural spots to explore right in the city as the flower garden (Planten un Blomen) with the Japanese Garden or the Alster Lake with its boats and swans right in the city centre. |

i wasnt expecting such a classy city especially since there is a red light district but in contrast to amsterdam this is much cleaner, friendlier, there is also less low life people here. its a place id definitley come back to |
