Nice hotel and really clean room and helpful staff. Took about 35 min to get to the hotel and it was not an interestng area. But good for a one night hotel if you are not there to see hamburg.

If you´re looking for the "backpacking ambiance" this is NOT the place for you, but if you want to get some sleep it´s OK. The thing is that it is REALLY FAR FROM THE CITY CENTER... you have to walk 20 min. to the nearest S-Bahn station and then ride in the S-Bahn for at least 15 min. to get to the city center, which for us was really bad. I recommend you find a hostel or hotel downtown.close

we had a room on the side of the road, the room was very hot, and when we opened the windows for a cool breese we heard much noise from the passing cars on the road. So we recommend a room onthe other side off the hotel.

10 mins walk from an s-bahn station, only a few stops from the main nightlife area. nicely stocked minibar. toilets and shower in room. about 15 euro in a taxi from the main station. no complaints.

It was also quite a walk away from a train station, but there was an occasional bus. The corridors on each floor were very poorly lit and even during the day they were actually dark - as the lighting was so poor. The room was a good size and clean, and it was nice for it to have a bath as well as shower. Nice room, bad hotel. I wouldnt really recommend this hotel, as its far from the city centre, the staff are unsatisfactory and the finishing touches of the hotel are simply not there. Glad to leave the place.close

Although only ten minutes walk from the nearest S-bahn stop (Diebstich), the stop itself was in a very dodgy neighbourhood. I was scared walking to and from it with my boyfriend, especially at night. Had I been travelling on my own, I would have been terrified. It was not safe at all - poorly lit, a confusing route of stairs and bridges to get to the platform... it looked like mugging central. I would not reccommend Helgoland to female travellers or solo travellers, unless you plan to taxi into the center every day (approx 10-15 euros). Apart from the location, the hotel was very good.close

the hotel was of a very good standard however the communication was not good. Be aware of the expensive breakfast as they do not tell you it costs 12 euros a head. it was implied it was complimentary.

Bit removed from things. Hotel is well worth it if you want a quiet, clean place to stay. Not much to do in the neighborhood.
