Hamburg City Guide

overall city rating 66%

Hamburg is a port city and one of Germany’s biggest. A pretty huge city, it covers an area of around 292 square miles and boasts a population of close to 1.8 million people. Culturally, Hamburg is filled with attractions including around 60 different museums. One of the most important of these is the Hamburger Kunsthalle, an art gallery consisting of three different buildings and filled with a wide spectrum of artworks. A city with many canals and a large harbour, Hamburg offers lots of different boat trips and these are a great way to get a different perspective on the city. While visiting the city, try to check out Saint Michaelis Church, with its tall baroque tower, and the Stadtpark, a large green space that also sports its own Planetarium. Live music is pretty important in this city, with a huge number of bars, clubs and venues hosting rock, metal and hip hop acts. For something a bit more classical, check out the Hamburg State Opera.

Although there are not many famous landmarks, scenery spots can be found everywhere if historic buildings, idyllic parks and public spaces, modern architecture, cultural festivals or exciting clubs and night… more
