Wenn mal unter der Woche in Danzig nichts los sein sollte, kann man immer noch ins nahegelegene Sopot fahren!!! |

Most traveller's avoid Gdansk, but you will not regret seeing this city. The people were the friendliest I've met so far. |

What a lovely surprise this little town was. With a spectacualr old town with music, cafes and galleries and a small beach town (Sopot) only half hour away. Very cheap too, eat and live well here. Relax here, the atmosphere during the day is really great. |

It rained while we were there, but in the summer sun Sopot beach would be awesome |

an amazing place, really good fun. pretty cold. Looks unfriendly because everywhere keeps their doors shut but most the people are nice. I want to go back in the summer and visit Sopot too. |

If you want a chilled, slightly left field Baltic break, with ball-breakingly cheap food and drink but without the stag-lout culture, this place is pretty decent! |

Batiful place, I don't really know why it is not more famous, it's probably underestimated by travellers that never been there.
Perfectly conservated XV century architecture, many things to do in the sourroundings (Sopot, Malbork, Westerplate) nice to go out and eat, museums, just for walking.
Lovely place, It was much more of what I expected. Definitly a must go if you are close. |

I wasn't expecting to like Gdansk. I remember seeing the Solidarity riots at the shipyards on tv in the early 80s and place looked grim. Boy was I gobsmacked when I got there. The old town is a delight - very well maintained with beautiful guild houses and town houses and a beautiful old town hall which now serves as the museum of the city of Gdansk. Just outside is the stunningly beautiful Long Market. There are some find buildings along the waterfront as well (and lots of amber shops) and the Gdansk crane - an amazing crane built in the 1400s. I was staying in nearby Sopot, so didn't manage to spend a night in Gdansk, which is a pity because I'd say it's a lovely city at night. Certainly worth a long weekend! |
